It's been a long time since I've been on this forum, and almost any other forum for that matter. I decided to be fair to Matt and write up a review of a fixed blade he made for me in Feb. 2012.
I'll tell it like Matt would tell it, bluntly. I'm not trying for brownie points.
I contacted Matt in probably January of 2012. I asked if I drew up a knife would he make it and he agreed. He added some nice touches, like the stingray wrap handle, but he pretty much took my drawing and transferred it onto a blank piece of 1095. I let him have free reign on the sheath, he just simply asked how I wanted to carry it and draw it. He also designed the sheath to where I could tie it down using 550 cord if I needed to. Overall communication with Matt was excellent, he kept me informed of the progress and sent me pictures along the way. I want to say from first contacting him to having the knife in my hands was maybe 3 weeks.
Here's some pictures.

The knife did not come looking as rough as it does now. those photos were from today after I cleaned the knife up a little bit. The reason I had to clean the knife up a little bit, and the reason I usually clean it up a couple times a month is because I treat it as a tool. I do not go easy on that knife. I do almost everything you shouldn't with a custom. I baton it through logs every time I have a bon fire, I've used it to pry with, I've carried in the rain and through mud. I am not easy on it, and it has put up with that for the past 2.5 years. There has been a lot of bon fires that knife has attend in the past 2.5 years. I still keep it clean, I still sharpen it to shave hair, but it still will get put through some real world use.
Here is some pics from a few days ago, when I lost the key to my shed and I needed some tools from it..

So to wrap this long winded review up, if you are ever considering working with Matt I highly encourage it. He was a pleasure to work with. He built me the fixed blade I had been wanting for an extremely reasonable price. He had excellent communication through out the entire process. Most importantly the knife speaks for itself, it has held up through 2.5 years of loving abuse and I honestly don't have any complaints about it.
