Awhile back, Matthew Gregory posted up a large fighter he had made from CruforgeV and bocote. He took some flack for his handle treatment, and I was one of the flack throwers, although I didn't realize at the time that his choice for a simple handle was supported by sound logic, (no pun intended
). In fact, his handle evoked 'broom handle' for some, (hence the title for the post).
I'm happy to report, that this knife has a very carefully designed handle which looks simple, but provides what is required for a knife that is concealable, but more importantly it provides for instantaneous and intuitive motion. The flatness of the sides gives a ton of leverage and control, and although I'm used to highly sculpted handles, this one has really opened my eyes to a different approach in creating an efficient knife. Transitioning the knife side to side, cutting out or in, or in a back cut, the handle combined with the overall low weight makes for a very nice handling knife indeed.
This knife weighs only 390 grams, or .85 of a pound. The blade measures 11 3/8", and is just shy of 1/4" thick.
As is customary for me, here are some shots of Matt's attention to detail when it comes to the packaging of his knives. A good packaging job means a lot to me, as it shows a level of care which follows the knife to its end destination;
And, a quick 'performance test';

All I have with me today is my crappy camera, but you can see that Matthew's fitment is pretty good.
I'll get some more upclose pics posted tomorrow.
I am very pleased with this knife, and because of that, and my fondness for Matt in general, I have zero hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking to buy a high performance custom knife. This knife was very reasonably priced as well, and value is something that means a lot to me too. This knife is really all that, and a bag of chips.
Thanks Matt, I love this knife!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
