Hi.

This is a picture of a knife that someone shared with me and gave me permission to post here at Blade Forums.

It's a Matt Lerch "Paia Dagger." I have seen a few of these posted here before, and in person. But to me, they never get old. One day . . .

This one has a Damascus blade and fantail - but they are not yet etched
18K gold blade inlay, release button, and finial.
8 75" O.A.L. plus the finial

This is a "California auto."

Photo by Mitchell Cohen (Prairie Digital Photography).

IMO, they don't come much nicer than this. I hope you enjoy.

Ken, thank you for showing us this beautiful Lerch auto dagger... It suits my personal tastes perfectly, and if it was a bit larger, it would be one of my favorite pieces by Matt I have seen... Simple and clean lines, not overdone in any area of the design..

John Whites post indicates that the damascus has been etched after this picture was taken.. If I read his post right, I hope there is another Prairie Digital photo out there which shows this.. It would be fun to compare.. There are at least three other makers who come to mind right away that are currently making knives with this "look"... I don't have a problem with that by the way... Best Regards, Rich Slaughter
