Hi all.
I just wanted to let y'all know that i just posted a thread in the "testing and reviews" forum of a Tackett knife i recently purchased. Here is the thread....

that post was getting long, and i didn't want to set false expectations, but i do want to recognize the "bonus" that Matt sent to me. i bought the knife and he said that he was including a "bonus." and wow...a bonus, it was. it was a little "necker" with cord-wrap, epoxied handle.

this little knife is awesome. feels great in the hand. you will notice there are some "sores" on the handle. that was from me. i tried to strip the coating and was careless and got some stripper on the handle. i think i am going to remove the cord-wrap and put some skinny micarta on it.

thanks very much matt. i love both knives.

Killer review Todd.
I hope to use mine on some whitetails at the end of the month. I am headed to northeast Ohio for a hunt with my brothers. I haven't been up there in fifteen years to hunt. I am looking forward to it but will sorely miss using my .308 since they only allow slug guns.
Anyhow I hope it serves you for many seasons to come!

P.S. That jute was an experiment for me... I made myself a neck knife too. I grinded mine off and put on wood...and it was a pain in the A$$! The tang was drilled heavily for weight and bite and that resin really sank in. I started by grinding the tang edge of the cord off, then I used a wood chisel to take the sides off. Have fun rehandling!!!

been using this knife in the woods. no deer for me yet...but still really liking this blade. i don't want to make you blush or anything, but i am even considering ditching my other knives in this size range.

and, thanks for the tip Matt. i actually saw that "jute" knive and figured it was from the same pattern. it looked good to me.

I saw what the stripper did to the epoxy, so figured i would throw some stripper on the whole thing...this time, on purpose. ;) then, i was planning to try the chisel and grind off what's left over. i really liked how that cord-wrap handle felt...if i hadn't wrecked it, i might have left it on.

Good luck on the hunt!

i suppose i'll post this here. why not? i have pics, after all. :D

finally took a bit of time to put some thin micarta scales on the tackett bonus knife (green canvas micarta with brown micarta pins). it was kind off a quick, sloppy job.

drilling the butt-end hole, the bit caught and sucked the thing up. this meant the hole was not perpendicular, so had to fix it up. this meant that there would be a gap around the pin that needed to get filled with resin. I also forgot to even drill the lanyard hole.

needless to say, i wasn't terribly pleased. but, with all that said, it didn't end up too bad. it's comfy, which i suppose is the important part.

thanks again to Matt for my Bonus knife.

looks nice to me :)
funny how it initially appeared a lot smaller in the first photo in the OP, I guess it's all relative, I first thought it was more of an altoid tin knife - obviously no :))
