Anyone ever heard of MAURI PÖYLIÖ finnish knives.

While they have quite elaborate handles, they are quite inexpensive, so I'm just wondering if those are real users or collector items ?

Yes, those knifes are for use. They are not as strong as some survival blades, but for small works with wood they are excellent. And quite inexpensive too.

Have'nt personally used knife from Mauri Pöyliö, but i've used lot's of similar knives and they have been sharp and well made.

I don't think those are so inexpensive that you should be concerned about quality on that basis. From the pics, they look well made. I'd buy one, if I were looking for a knife of that style.

They are "modernish" versions of traditional northern Finland knives. I have not handled them but usually that well made knives are of fairly high quality. Just about the only but is that they are made for the "scandi" type of use and handling.

I have a huge finish backround in my family. My grand parents have the the exact model (maybe same brand?) My dad got one for his birthday and I started using it. It holds a fantastic edge but there is a wierd coating on the handle and eventualy it starts to peel off in flakes. But I'd buy one if I had to.
