Well on a whim, I traded my Kershaw Vapor for another knife. Its a Maxam G10 Linerlock knife. I dont know what the steel in the blade is but it seems like a good solid knife. Its heavy, about the size of a Kershaw Storm II. I wish I could show pics but I dont know how. I never heard of Maxam before. Can anyone tell me about the Manufacture?

WHAT!!!! You traded a Kershaw for a Maxam. I am sorry to say but you just got screwed badly. Maxam Knives are some of the crappiest made. I hope they gave you money w/ the knife to equalize it. Can you trade back?

Dam, after reviewing this on google, I did get owned. No I cant trade back. How can I have been so stupid. I just never heard of the Maxam company and I didnt know. Oh well you win some you lose some. I lost big time on this one. Ill just buy me another Vapor, there only 18.00 bucks or so.

A Barber of all people. Have any of you got that sick to my stomach feeling after doing something so stupid as I have just done? Well I got that feeling.

You said your knife was about $20. The Maxam was $5-10. Don't feel bad. You didn't lose a custom knife or anything. Look at it this way: You pay $10 to go to the movies to see a movie for an hr or 2 so $20 got you 4 or so hrs of movie time. Did you get 4 hours out of your knife?

Well I guess thats one way of looking at it jetsrb32 and I appreciate you trying to make me feel a little better but I still got that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.........Ill get over it. You are right though, at least it was not a 50.00 to a 100.00 dollar knife.

I'd tell you to go back to the barber and threaten him with it but blade might fly off and stab you if you shake it too hard. Doesn't seem like a big deal. Get another one and tell people that the barber knowingly ripped you off. That's not the kind of person I want to bring business to. I've seen Maxams being offered for a dollar and change.

No Problem:thumbup:

I hope this person you traded with is not a friend of yours.
Next time you are thinking about a trade come ask first on the forums. I am sure everyone will tell you the truth here :D

it is like throwing a $20 bill in the garbage. You cannot calculate the sale price of the Maxam into the equation because it is in fact worthless. Time to find a new Barber.

Hey Guys!! I got my knife back!!!!!!!!!!! He traded back with me today. I called him and he said it didnt matter to him so I went and got my knife back. He was really nice about it. I just wanted you to know.

I doubt the barber knowingly ripped you off. We tend to forget that the general population can't tell one brand from another. He probably paid 20 bucks at a sporting goods store, and figured that they were worth the same price. Glad to hear you both settled it without bad feelings.

Well, now that you've got your Vapor back, try to get your friend to upgrade his knife. Hell, you probably should have let him have the Vapor and kept the G10 for weeding around the yard. It would have given you the perfect excuse for buying something better, like a Kershaw Storm.

If you're looking for a good, inexpensive knife, Smoky Mountain has a GREAT deal on the S&W Extreme Ops Hawkbill, plain or serrated, for a paltry $6.99. Now a lot of people don't like Smith knives, but some are crap and some are fairly decent. These things began selling for a retail of...well, I can't remember, but they weren't cheap. I have one that I use around the house and it's quite a bit better than I had any reason to expect.

These knives are well built and, while they weren't worth the original asking price, which was over fifty bucks, they certainly are more than worth seven bucks. The serrated model also is a very nice buy. Get four of 'em and give your friend two.

Don't do it! If you go cheap Chinese at at least get him a Marbles stag sowbelly. Not many barbers are covert assassins after six o'clock.
