Maxam knife

I had a friend sharpen the $5 cheapy I had and he gave me today a Maxam knife. SHort blade. Never heard of it. I will try to get a picture later, but any info on this maker?

Typically low quality and potentially unsafe. You get what you pay for with Maxam.

I have only experience with one from Maxam, here is a picture of that knife

I bought it in the early to mid-80's, and it has not been used daily by any means, but it has held up very well, takes a nice edge, and is solid and locks up tight.

This particular knife is made in Japan.

I have heard from several on this forum that Maxam (if it is the same company) is making very low qualify knives.

I suppose it bears some looking into as to how old your example is to determine if it is a decent knife or one of the newer, lesser quality models.

maxam are cheap knives and their quality runs from absolute crap to decent....probably not what I would choose for an edc...more like a beat the $#@! out of pos knife...
