Has anyone ever bought any Maxam Knives?

If so what do you think of the quality of them and what would you rate then out of 10.

If you have never bought any, have you ever heard of Maxam knives or have you ever seen any of them.

:D

Maxam knives? Yes, I've seen them. Flea market rubbish is how I would categorize them. Cheap construction and blatant ripoffs is what you you'll find with the Maxam stamp. On a scale from 1 to 10 they don't even rate a 1. My advice is steer away from that felgercarb and buy a knife from a reputable company.

Thanks for giving me your thoughts about the their knives.

I on the other hand have to give them a much better mark then you are. I'm not sure how many Maxam knives you have seen but the quality of their knives is not that bad, atleast to me it isnt. I own quite a few Maxam knives and that's why i wanted to ask some of you if any of you have had them.

Their price might make you think ahhh this is a cheap knife becuase they just don't cost nearly as much as some of the more famous brand names. I own this Maxam Hunting Knife as well as a few other ones like this Maxam Striker Liner Lock Knife and the Anodized Liner Lock Knfie.

I find them all to be quite good, not as good as the Spyderco Para-Military knife that I just recently purchased, but for the price that I get them for they get a 10 out of 10 from me.

my 2 cents. :)

My oh my, you would not just happen to be the 'Cyber' over at KF would you? The same one who is a dealer selling the very knives you mention? If so, no biggie, but no need for the sly posts asking about the knives.

Anyways, as I said over at KF, they are basically cheap copies of name brand knives, of the few I have seen at gunshows and such, the quality appears very sub-standard and not worth the trouble to look at.

I wish this was a comedy act.

"for the price that I get them for they get a 10 out of 10 from me."

lol

Price is often a factor to many knife enthusiasts who are on tight budgets, but if you wish to buy a good knife to use, I can only suggest to save and purchase a knife that will last.

That Maxam Striker knife is a blatant knockoff of the Colt Python and that other anodized locking liner knife is a copy of the Buck Approach. Comparing a Maxam to a Spyderco Military is like comparing a high performance motorcycle to a moped.

I have seen and handled several Maxam knives and they don't even compare in quality to a Buck or even a UC Colt folder. I also own several cheap $5.00-$10.00 knives (Opinels, Okapis, Mora knives) and while their blades are far from state-of-the-art, they will perform much better than those 420J2 blades.

If you like collecting those Maxams and enjoy them, then more power to you. Just don't put your faith in their locking mechanisms or edge holding capabilities.

Well here is the deal, i'm the same guy from the K-F the thing is i'm really trully not the owner of knivefactory.com although i'm looking into buying the domain name and their entire inventory out.

Now not ever being in the knife market makes it very hard for me to see if putting my money into this company is worth anything. Having said that i hoestly did purchase the knvies that i said above as well as the Spyderco knife which i compared to the ones from Maxam. Maybe i would comparing the wrong knife but the quality of the two for me atleast was almost the same. But then again i'm no knife expert like i said.

When i first came to this forum i wanted to introduce my self as a consumer becuase only then would you truly get the correct answer from the public.

I hope this explains my being here, and would love to get some more comments if possible from people that have actually purchased their knives and used them.

Thank you.

CyberSkull, you'll probably find a few here who might have received one as a gift, but I doubt you'll find someone on who's actually used one of those Maxams. Again, I've seen them being sold at flea markets to naive buyers. I seriously doubt that a seasoned knife enthusiast would want to waste their money on them.

I don't have a clue what the quality of them is now but I bought one that was advertised in the back of Deer and Deer Hunting magazine back in 1986 that was a wide drop point skinner. and seemed to be 440A stainless. I used it for skinning deer for quite a few years and it seemed to hold an edge quite well. I still have it but have much better knives now and never use it any more. the sheath that came with it wasn't that bad either.

Lame, lame, lame. Every post you've particapated, since you joined (BF) on May 17th, has revolved around the Maxam brand and pointing people to the website.

This thread is feeble, thin and shallow attempt to get people to visit his website without being a paying, forum advertiser.

Come on now, you start a thread about these knives and only fuss up to your ulterior motives after someone calls you on it?!

My motive is not to get people to the webiste, I doubt anyone tries to sell their products this way, its pointless. Why would i want people to go to that site anyway? Do i make any money on it? No! i dont own the company (Yet).

Am i interested in buying the company becuase its for sale? Yes.

My motive is simply to get more information about these knives, like I said in my previous reply I'm not a knife expert and can not tell which knife is good for what although i do have a little bit of knowledge about kitchen knifes because I use them.

Any who, If a knife forum is not the place for me to do this then I dont know where else to go, I see that Cosmic Superchunk is an expert when it comes to knives so i respect his opinoin.

In fact Cosmic Superchunk I see that you have pointed out alot of knives that are very similar to some of the more famous brand names. Would it be ok with you if I was to buy a knife or two of Maxams and mail them to you in order to get your expert opinion about what you think of their quality.

I know that they look alot like the others, but I would love to see what you think about the quality of the knife when you have it in your hand.

If you don't mind checking them out for me, please PM me your mailing address and i will mail them to you.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Those Maxam "knives"(I can't even get myself to call them knives) are pure crap.

:barf:

What kind of business plan advocates buying a company that sells a product you know nothing about?

This thread is closed.

10 out out of 10 huh. ;) (compared to what other junk brands.)

You are welcome here as an honest knife enthusiast, but trying to hype junk especially on someone elses dime is not very welcome here at all.
