I just recieved a new model that differs slightly from the previous recent model I purchased.
It now has a grab handle on top and a removable full thin waist strap with buckle. This is a good addition to help keep it from swinging around while active. The bad part is that the waist strap barely fits around your waist while wearing a coat if your layered up. (36" waist for me add coat and no go)

Thanks for the heads up! Boy, you'd think with a name that includes JUMBO they'd give you a good bit of strap!

It's an easy fix with a little sewing and some extra strap but you would think that they would have made it much longer. Maybe it's just an isolated incident?
The stabilizer strap off my Larkspur will fix it for me.

I have one with out the top grab strap. I immediately found I wanted such a strap. They are nice.

I believe you have the new Maxpedition Jumbo EDC Versapack. It has those features and is made of a lighter fabric. It's supposed to weigh 15% less than the original bag.

It still feels like the same fabric thickness. Not real noticeable if it is lighter. Still feels rigid as the others i've had.
The rear pad fabric feels different. It has a bigger CC compartment loop field now in addition to the top strap and waist strap.

Edit:
It looks like the new EDC and LEO versions have the lighter fabric.
After seeing this, I still like the regular Non-EDC/LEO versipack for hiking purposes. Note that the Mil-Spec guy is small in stature so the bags look huge next to him.

The things I like on the Jumbo Versipack for woods walking are the daisy chain strap on the bottom for hanging bulky items like a cooking pot or gloves, etc. On the side opposite the Nalgene pocket is the GPS pouch which holds my fire kit perfectly. Behind the GPS pouch is a handy slip pocket that most woods knives and it's sheath slip into. My Skookum Bush Tool sheath fits perfect. Just the last top half inch of the sheath is above the top of the pocket. Also the main compartment retains the weather skirt that cinches closed.
It looks like the LEO and EDC packs have dropped these things which is a good thing for their intended purposes. I think they will sell alot of these 2 new Versipack variants.

I just purchased the same model (mine is Khaki-Foliage which is what yours looks like). The new grab handle is a nice addition as well. I had a real hard time trying to decide between the Jumbo (which I have had before) and the new Mongo. In the end I decided to get the Jumbo because I was afraid I would overload the Mongo and it would become uncomfortable on extended walks.

I also have a Kodiak that I like as well ... It is not nearly as big as it looks on MilSpec Monkey but you have to be careful not to overload it.

i have a red/blk jumbo s-type; it is NOT the new edc jumbo but it does have the handle and the waist belt...and i think it might be using the lighter weight material...otherwise it has the same pouches and features...it's like i got a hybrid jumbo s-type...
