Maxped Kodiak Gearslinger??

Anyone use a Kodiak Gearslinger from Maxpedition? I like the idea of being able to swing it around in front of me to access everything without taking it off.

My main concern is comfort. Would a two strap pack be a better choice for a day of hiking? Assume that I'd have it loaded.

Oh, and any recommendations for good places to get Maxped gear online?
Thanks!

The Kodiak Gearslinger is great for everyday use. It holds a laptop and has great access and portability. I sold mine because I didn't like it for hiking. Once weighted down the single shoulder strap is not nearly as comfortable as a backpack. But this is only personal experience. It is a very well-made pack, and indestructible, like all Maxpedition gear.

Recommendations for gear sites:

www.twowolvesoutdoor.com
www.lapolicegear.com
www.knifeworks.com

I have purchased from all of these and they've been great transactions.

I use a Typhoon gearslinger which is the size (now discontinued) right under the Kodiak.

I was thinking of getting the Kodiak. However I am glad I didn't go any bigger than the Typhoon. It is very easy to load a gearslinger this size to the point of being very uncomfortable to carry over one shoulder.

Anything over 1000 c.i. would best be carried with two straps

I agree with the previous two comments.

I love a sling bag, but for daily/urban use. On the trail, a 'regular' backpack is much more comfortable.

The kodiak is good, especially if you want to fit a letter-size pad or a laptop. It flips around your body well and holds daily-type stuff well. But for trail or outdoors use it's less useful.

I love the gearslingers (I have 3 of them) but only for daily / manpurse useage. For the trail, get a backpack (especially with a bladder solution) and use that. It's easier, more comfortable and ultimately more useful for the intended purpose.
