Maxped Remora question

So, my current EDC bag is a Maxped Jumbo. I'm seriously considering how much I carry, and I'm thinking I can knock it back a bunch.
I'm looking at the Remora as a replacement, and using the jumbo as a work bag.
So to help you help me, here are the main features I use on the jumbo, so we can come up with a solution.
I try to always carry a water bottle, I recently switched to Platypus soft-bottles, and carry at least a 500ml one, but I have a 1L on the way to me.
Beyond that, the Jumbo is only about half full, but I do also carry a Otter 2000 box, to put my phone in if it gets really nasty out. Although, I'm not sure how much it is really needed. I carry my EDC bag everywhere as a general rule, but I do have dedicated bags for planned trips (although there are not as many of those as there should be)

Should I get the Remora and add a roly-poly for the water bottle? or would the 10x4 work better? (or would adding the 10x4 just get me back to jumbo sized?) Or should I just use the shock cord like some you-tubers say to do? does that even work?
I want to force myself to carry less, right now its kind of insane (do I really need to carry a deck of cards?) and the Jumbo is tending to get disorganized.
Or alternatively, is there another bag that you think would work well for me?

I just took everything out and was a bit shocked. Apparently, I'm a hoarder!

So yeah, time to downsize, I'm sure once I put things back in the bag, I'll have even more space for stuff.

Thoughts/Ideas?

i got 2 remoras with cocoon's on the side, to small for a water bottle,it is good for short 1 day hikes,i use the cinch cord to hold a bottle..

You will be hard pressed to get all that into a remora without adding all kinds of pouches. Maybe step up to a Lunada.

hey Panzer, you figure thats too much stuff? its only half the jumbo, isnt the Luanda even bigger than the jumbo? I'm thinking that I'll try the remora with a small roly-poly for water bottle carry, and go from there. if i need to downsize my kit a bit too, I'll manage.

Half the Jumbo is not much plus the useable space is much different then the Jumbo. You will be cramming with the Remora IMHO. Good luck

Thanks for the thoughts. My main goal is to get a smaller bag than the jumbo. Are there any other bags in that category? small, over-built, shoulder bag. I have a small backpack, but I don't like it for urban carry as I hate taking the bag off to look for stuff.
