Maxpedition Bottle Holder Mess Kit?

Alright. This is kind of an obscure question but I figure someone around here has to have these two pieces of kit.

Will the Maxpedition 12x5 bottle holder fit a ZebraPot 12cm billy?

According to the specs it should just barely fit but I don't know for sure. Figured I would ask before I dropped the coin.

My intention is to make a mess kit that I can strap to the side of a Maxpedition Falcon 2. Zebra Pot lid and pan in the bottom, Nalgene Guyot, GSI cup, and pot all nested together on top. Figure it would be a good way to keep the soot from my billy out of the rest of my pack.

FYI for anyone interested: the bail on the pot holds the water bottle snuggly in place when everything is nested, making for a nice, rattle free package:thumbup:

Can you post a pic of this setup nested together? Maybe with a ruler for actual size reference? I have a 12x5 and the same components as you except the Zebra billy. I have been thinking about doing the same but like you don't want to drop the coin for the billy if it doesn't fit. I think the bail sticking out on the sides may pose a problem but I don't know how far they stick out.

Here ya go, GhostWolf:

All together it is 10.75" tall and 5.5" wide at the bail. However, the top of the pot, measured perpendicular to the bail measures only 4 15/16" which should allow the bottle holder to deform slightly, giving a little width for some depth.

I just don't know how exact the 5" part of the 12x5 bottle holder is. A little big? A little small?

And, in case you were wondering, I carry my Nalgene upside down because I get a much snugger fit in the GSI cup. I can't stand noisy gear:D

I just tried my stainless kettle (which measures 5.5in. at its widest) and it is a no go. Sorry friend. Hope this helps.

Old thread I know.

I have a 12 x 5 and am also looking for a solution. I picked up a Brunton IB cook set (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEsUFf-IHQI) advertised as 5.2" and it does not fit. Maxped stuff fills up nicely, but 1000D balistic nylon does not stretch much.

I was considering a snowpeak trek 900 as it says it is 5" bang on. Anyone else been able to do a mess kit in their 12 x 5?

I am not going for a Jetboil (which I know fits), it is too limited for what I want to do.

Thanks all.

There's a thread in the outdoor section about this. I know the gsi cup fits and I've read that the snow peak 700 and the snow peak solo kit both fit. I think the solo kit has the 900 in it but not sure.
