I know that you all like pictures(I do too!), but I do not have a digital camera, so verbals will have to work.

I have been needing a backpack w/hydration capablity and decent room for knifeshow going and other events for a while. I picked up a Maxpedition Falcon yesterday. The first thoughts that I had was that this bag is constructed of the thickest fabric I have ever seen. I own a number of Tumi bags, and this honestly seems like a more overbuilt bag than any others that I own,it also looked really small to me as an initial impression.

That impression did not last when I got home. I was able to get (5) 3"x 17" Bills Cordura cases w/knives into the main compartment, which has some thoughtfully designed panels on the walls of the bag. One compartment would be a good stash spot for cash, the other is perfect for those freebie magazines. After unpacking the knives, and repacking them into checked luggage, I loaded in a few special bottles of wine going to Blade, with a gift for a knifemaker friend in between them-perfect fit.

The secondary compartment holds (4) 2 1/2"x 10" Bill's Cordura Cases. The wall panel in this compartment would be great for some cigars, energy bars or more money, the front is made of mesh so you can see what is in there.

The top accessory pocket on the face of the bag holds a Buck 110 box perfectly, would also be a great place to stash a good sized digital camera, or a walkman.

The bottom accessory compartment has an organizer panel for pens, business cards, cell phone.... This would be another place for energy bars, a paperback book, Bill's folder pouches (probably (8-10) 2" x 5".

Each compartment is "box construction" so it is kind of self expanding, to a limited degree.

I will try to post pictures when I get back from Blade, but this bag looks like a very fine show bag, and I am looking forward to putting it through its' paces.

a request from the Northwest - What are you're feelings towards the Falcon now?

I'm toying with the idea of picking one up for my everyday urban bag... my Hydrastorm Cyclone just doesn't do it for me...

Yeah, I was thinking about the Falcon also, but I'm also interested in the Condor. Not sure which I should get. Any suggestions?

There did not seem to be a lot of interest, AND...I am a camera idiot, wanted to do pictures, and needed my wife's help. :D

I thought that the Falcon was the Ultimate Knife Show Bag, ever. Seriously. I will be my permanent show bag from now on.

I have been using a Bill's Custom Gun Bag forever, and it is very, very good, but it sling's over one shoulder, and when overloaded and carried that way for a full day, had a tendency to pinch a nerve or two. It also sits on the hip, and had I had a propensity to "bump" people. That is never good

The bag is bomb proof, literally, I don't think you can hurt it. The main two pockets easily carried a total of 12 fixed blade knives, which should be enough for me. It was the other pockets that made the difference.

The small upper pocket carried my sunglasses, Dell Axim, wallet, energy bars, cellphone, and smokes, when I was not wearing a shirt with pockets.

The lower pocket carried any folding blades, or other materials purchased at the show. It made seperating everything out much easier. The bag was heavy when fully loaded, but did not present a problem and my back did not hurt for most of the show. I carried it mostly with the waist belt engaged and only one shoulder strap. This shifted most of the weight to my lower back, and still made the bag easy to get off.

There were only two problems, and I have dealt with them already.

1. I didn't think that I would get a lot of calls on my cell phone, but I did. The necessity of an on-shoulder strap pocket was made apparent by day two. The Maxpedition Cell phone pouches are great, and I got one. I also got the M2 Waistpack for the other shoulder strap, because pockets are good, and I needed them, and this allows me to shift more gear to the front.

2. I don't like loose "bitter ends", so I got some 1" nylon sliders to take up the slack on the shoulder straps, and side compression straps. Much neater appearance, and a lot less of a chance of snags.

If you are a big fella, then by all means, get a bigger pack. I am smaller, and this pack just about maxed the weight and bulk that I want to be carrying at a show. Mobility is good.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, as best I can. Joe, I can get Maxpedition stuff @ wholesale cost for you if you want.

I recently purchased a falcon, I use it for hiking. I was worried when I first received it that it would be to small, but so far it has worked out great.

I just got back from St. Lucia were I used the pack for my carry-on luggage.
I held everything I need, but what really impressed me is when I hike the Petit Piton. I carried 3 liters of water, 2 16oz cokes, a buch of granola bars, bug spray, first aid kit, flashlight, umbrella, the climb was very strenous, and steep enough were you had to pull yourself up using roots, trees and ropes, The back was secure and stable, never shifted or got in the way, except when coming back down the mountain, it would sometime would scrape the ground and throw my balance forward, causing a few  moments.

I received a few REI hiking backpacks for presents, that I have returned since this pack has been so great

I just got my new Falcon in today and it looks great. Maxpedition doesn't disappoint. Now I get to fill it with all my little (and not-so-little) gadgets. :)
