Any users with impressions to share?

I really like my smaller Falcon-Pygmy version, but I'm thinking of upsizing just a little bit.

i have the pygmy version too.

great pack, if only it had a hydration pouch, it would be darn near perfect.

The Pygmy Falcon-II (#0517) is a compact rectangular urban daypack with distinct military styling and 1400 cubic inches (23 liters) of carry capacity. The Y-shaped compression strap that MAXPEDITION is famous for contributes to the bag's form and structural integrity while a row of sewn nylon hard points in front allows users to attach other MAXPEDITION pouches and accessories with our "snap and anchor" modular expansion system.

Comfortable back padding and supple curvaceous straps supported by 1.25" nylon webbing minimize the load on shoulders. Two side net pouches with cinch cord can be used to carry water bottles. Experience the workmanship, materials, design, and super durability for which MAXPEDITION is best known.

The Falcon II hydration backpack (#0513) is the dramatically improved second generation of our military assault daypack that has been upgraded with the amenities of daily use in mind while not compromising the integrity of rugged battlefield construction.

The MAXPEDITION Falcon-II (#0513) has all of the best features of a small/medium hunting pack or day pack, plenty of room for an overnighter, and is rock solid throughout. It has modular attachment webbing all over to attach your favorite MAXPEDITION pockets using Malice Clips. This multi-layered backpack features padded, high-breathability shoulder straps with 1.25” webbing, ergonomic contours, and superb load carrying comfort. It features an external sleeve for a 100 oz. water reservoir; a secondary bladder may be inserted into one of two large compartments. The Falcon pack contains five large, independent zippered spaces and two hidden compartments with various other carry features for arranging items great and small. The Falcon II is available in Black (#0513B), OD Green (#0513G), and Khaki (#0513K).

Ten (10) major improvements that differentiate the new Falcon-II (#0513) from the original Falcon (#0503):

(1) Addition of 5 rows of PALS webbing per side for full MOLLE compatibility
(2) Addition of 2 rows of PALS webbing on top front pocket for full MOLLE/ALICE compatibility
(3) Addition of 3 rows of PALS webbing on lower front pocket for full MOLLE/ALICE compatibility
(4) Addition of 2 quick release compression straps per side
(5) Addition of internal silent keyper in lower front pocket
(6) Improved hydration system pocket with zipper opening, a reservoir hang-tab, and a velcro bi-directional drink tube port
(7) Hydration pocket now has more capacity (100oz new vs. 72oz old) with greatly increased comfort and ergonomics
(8) Hydration pocket can accommodate a concealed firearm using our Hook & Loop Modular Accessories (e.g. #3501 Universal Modular Holster, sold separately)
(9) Organizer in lower front pocket
(10) Non-slip, high abrasion-resistance bottom

The Falcon-II looks quite a bit deeper, but overall cubic inches isn't all that much greater. It does have a hydration pouch.

its not much bigger, and they removed the mesh pockets on the side. i think those are the best features of the pygmy.

but one thing that drives me nuts about max packs, is the zippers that unzip on three full sides (270 degree opening). since i hang my pack in my locker at work, when i stick my hand in the top, the front had a tendency of opening all the way, thus dumping all my stuff on the ground or on my feet.

Actually, this is the very thing I like about the Falcon series. I have a nice top-load pack from LL Bean, but if you want something on the bottom, everything else has to come out. With the Falcon Pygmy, you just unzip the full pack and get what you want.

I just picked up a couple of the Pygmy II's, #517 series.

Waiting to get them filled for car bags.

While lacking a hydration bag area, has the two bottle pockets on the outside.

How are the pygmy falcons on size? I was thinking about getting one, but they look tiny. Haven't been able to find a pic of one on a person, little concerned cuz I'm around 6'4".

Looks nice to hold a day-hikes worth of gear though, or my schoolbooks...

La Police Gear seems to have a good deal on em, too,..

about the same size as a camelbak hawg, if that helps.

it is certainly not a large pack, but has decent storage space and good supplemental pockets.

The Falcon II is basically an upscaled Pygmy, as noted, minus the waterbottle holders - which IMO sucks.. However, w/t MOLLE/PALS webbing, external pockets can be carried.

My only complaint is that the stacked pocket layout - ie: basically three pockets of different depths layered on top of each other - inhibits carrying bulkier items. However, if you don't need to carry bulkier items, it is great in terms of organizing tons of small stuff, and it has a minimalist waist belt to keep it from flopping around.

And about the only thing Max does that nobody else does is to include straps on the shoulder straps that are MOLLE/PALS compatible - I like pockets on the straps for my camera, cell phone and compass so I don't have to dig into the pack to retrieve things I might want as I'm standing there...
