Hi Forum!
I know this is PSK-BOB-thread 1763, but I just took a picture of my PSK and want to share it with you:

I´m using it since 7/2009 while hiking with my dog. I also carry it when going/driving elsewhere or throw it in other packs.
Total weight is 800g with the LM Wave in it.
It´s based on a Maxpedition M1 Medium waistpack, I fix it on my belt or backpack with a single Molle Lok.
In the front pocket is spare place for storing cellphone and GPS.
Not on the picture is the paracord, my dog is wearing it around his neck :) and some ziplok bags.
I also wear always a folder (mostly a Spyderco Endura,CRKT M 16, or the Izula - soon an Izula folder ) an while outside a fixed blade; in my pockets ride a zippo and a whistle.

The content:
RAT fire steel including kompass, money and tampax (tinder+wife support)
DMT folding diamond sharpener
signal mirror
more tampax tinder and wire saw in a film box
water purification tablets (1 for 1 liter)
condom (water carrying or other use)
Petzl e+lite head lamp with spare battery
contact lenses
small bottle desinfection (emergency tinder)
surgical blade
surgical suture
band-aids from New Graham Knives:thumbup:
ready to use bandage
small adhesive tape
hypodermic needle
a pair of gloves (surgical)
thermal blanket
1 Aspirin for my wife
a small whistle is fixed outside the pack

I guess that´s all...

the only things i never used are the thermal blanket, the surgical blade, the water desinfection, the wire saw and the DMT.
I think I will take out the LM Wave, while beeing a really nice tool its weight is too much and maybe the DMT. I have to think how to replace it.
thanks for looking!
recommendations welcome!

Hi diak, I use my Maxpedition M1 as my Urban Survival kit also. It works great. Thanks for sharing yours, gives me an excuse to post mine. Here is what I keep in mine:

Front flap
Compass/thermomiter/magnafier combo
Spare Li-ion AA Battery

Front pocket
Cell phone
Inova X1 Flashlight w/Li-ion battery
Blue Mead Notebook
Uni-ball rollerball jell pen .5mm Blue

Large pocket
Hand Sanitizer
Chapstick
GoingGear Vault capsule with Ibuprofen
Tp
Band-aids
2-1/4x3 adhesive pads
Wetwipes
Jerkey
Trail mix
Gluten Free Granola bar or gluten free energy/fruit bar
Hard Candy

Will probably be adding a GoingGear firesteel and striker when my package arives in the next few days. Also thinking about swapping the Trail mix out for Gause and Tape. The food is in there because I need to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours and if I can't get somewhere quick I can have a good snack where ever I am. :) - A knife and my SOG Powerlock are on my belt when I'm not working my retail job so no need to carry those in my pack.

You have a nice little kit! You might want to think about adding a few little things like 7 strand para cord, or a para cord bracelet (survivalstraps.com), a poncho, snare wire, immodium pills, and benedryl pills. If you want to replace the Leatherman try a Swiss Army knife with locking blade and a saw, like the Victorinox Trekker. The tampax work GREAT for fire starting, for even better results try coating it in vasaline then seal it up in a ziplock or the RAT fire kit. You could also throw a few safty pins and a small sewing kit in there for little repairs.

333rm!

the dog is wearing the paracord, he´s always with me.

imodium pills I didn´t need the last 34 years, won´t put them in this bag. Maybe in a bag lasting for more days.
The benedryl I´ve been thinking about, cause some familiy members are hyperallergic, I will put in some!
Safety pins are in EVERY survival kit, I never use them and don´t know any problem I couldn´t solve without them.
Same for the sewing kit. What should I sew while in a emergency situation? In the case my life depends on sewing something, I´ll use the surgical suture, will even work better.
I´ll try the vaseline tinder !
The thermal blanket I can use as poncho.
The wire saw can also be used as Snare wire.

deerhunter: I bought mine in Germany...

thanks

I have a ton of Maxpedition products, and get almost all of them off of ebay.

The M-2 also works well on the belt:

Brick Tamland: I heard somewhere their periods attract bears. The bears can smell the menstruation!
Brian Fantana: You hear that, Ed? Bears. Now you're putting the whole station in jeopardy.

I normally get my Maxped stuff from Two Wolves. I honestly don't know if they have the best prices but they are forum members and have some of the BEST customer service I've heard of.

I'm not trying to pick on so I hope you don't take it that way. However I am curious if you are some sort of medic or have that sort of background. The average person I know does not have the training to use a surgical blade, or hypodermic needle. If you have the skills for these great but if not I might recommend removing them as you could do more damage than good.

hey killstew,

I´m veterinarian, so using this kind of stuff is not the problem.

By the way the hypodermic needle is mostly used tu pull out splinters, helpful also for average persons...

Very nice kit!

I know its FAK, but I'd recommend spending the $15 (includes international shipping) and pick up a Fenix E01 aaa light to drop on in there!

http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=443

Superb runtime, great time-tested quality & durability, small size and you could always use a light - especially if you need to dress or tend to a wound at night!

Every type of kit should have one of these!

hi wolf,

personally I don´t like "hold-in-the-hand-lights" like the fenix, so I use the petzl e+lite which is in the kit and put it on my head or elsewhere!
btw what means FAK?
thanks for your tip

FAK = First Aid Kit if that was your question

You got any more pics of that M-2? I was thinking about grabbing one to use as a camera case on my EDC bag--you think it'd be well suited for it? My camera's just a point-and-shoot.
