looking for a new tactical style pack ,i know maxpedition makes some awsome gear, but looking around i have seen BDS tactical packs, they look very well made ,lifetime warranty no questions asked,an made in America,an almost the same price,,looking for any feedback on there packs an gear,,,aloha

Ive got a Maxped jumbo Versipak and my only gripe is that after EDCing it for 2 yrs it still looks NEW! They dont seem to "break in" like some packs and gear so you walk around looking like a f@%&in new guy! Ive even washed mine 4 or 5 times. TUFF equipment!--KV

lol here is my jumbo sorry for the crap pic. my wrapped izula and Quark AA2 light. on the jumbo where the strap pad connects to the strap i use the lower velcro attacment to clip my izula to. so when i have the sling around my back the izual dangles infront of me for quick reach

I own some BDS gear. Really well made. But it is softer than the maxpedition. Sometimes this is a good thing sometimes it's a bad thing. Bottom line is that both are tough as nails and will serve you well. So pick the one that has the features you need. But the main difference is that the Maxpedition stuff is gonna be stiffer, it keeps it's shape, and will stand upright in most cases. But it crinckles when you move and makes noise. The BDS will collapse under it's own weight and this can sometimes make the pouches hard to get into. Meaning when you pull the zipper tab the pouch wants to flex with the motion and so you may have to put your other hand on the bag to stabalize it. But it's more quiet than the maxpedition material. Both are adequate for hiking. Neither are cut out for long term wilderness hikes because they don't ride as well as a dedicated hiking rig. And this would cause them to become uncomfortable. You'd wished you had a different pack after about 4 or 5 days. But for a 1 to 3 day pack or an EDC they rule. And either will serve you well. My vote is for Maxpedition because I like the stiffer packs. But it would be a poor hunting pack because it's noisy. But it sits up in the passenger seat of my truck well because of that stiffness. A BDS would sag. Both are a great choice. Just get the one that works best for you.
