I just received the Maxpedition Pygmy falcon II and it seems like a great bag. However, I ordered it in Khaki, but it doesn't seem very Khaki.

The khaki shown here is very light compared to my bag:

However, I'd say it's pretty close to the khaki shown here:

Are the photos just not representative of the true color? Or does maxpedition have a variety of "khakis"? Or is something else going on?

Here is a picture of my bag:

The photos may not be representative. I bet a lot of these colors change from batch to batch. Also, each of our monitors will show the same color differently.

They do have new color combos, one being khaki-foliage. Looks like that might be what you have.

That was my thought, too-- Khaki-Foliage. That's the color I almost got with my new Kodiak. But I stuck with plain Khaki.

that bag is khaki-foliage. My maxpedition bag has no difference in color of the webbing to the bag like yours. I have the khaki and the bag and webbing match. hope that helps.

Contacted both the seller and Maxpedition. Looks like it's just normal color variation. I'm definitely happy with it, just wanted to make sure what I had before I started buying any accessories (pouches, etc).

That is definately not plain Khaki!

Here's the bag in Khaki:

here's the bag in Foliage Green:

Bothe are very nice colors nonetheless, but you should get what you ordered. have you contacted the seller/shipper and see what they say?

My bag doesn't really look like either of those.

Seller's response:
Unfortunately, the photos are not indicative of the actual color. The
colors will even vary by lot. Rest assured you did receive the proper item
however
.

Maxpedition said the following, (which didn't really answer my question)
Thank you for recent purchase of the 0517 - Pygmy Falcon II. The photo of
our pygmy II in khaki, that was linked, looked good.

The same khaki material is used in all our khaki bags.

If you have any other questions, please, feel free and ask.

Comparing that to my Malaga in Foliage Green, no way that is Khaki. Curious, what did the UPC SKU tag indicate for color:confused:

I have noticed there is a tendancy for people to label army green / olive drab / foliage all as Khaki.
khaki is more of a brown /sandy kind of colour as TKAZ has shown with his pics.

maybe if you ordered Coyote , you would have got closer to the mark ?

It said 0517K - khaki
Mmmm, very strange. I would say that if you have your heart set on Khaki, get it exchanged. If you start building on the system with Khaki accessories, they are not going to match what you have now.

Emailed maxpedition again, still waiting for a response, which is dissapointing because really all I want to do is buy more of their stuff.

I wouldn't say my heart is set on khaki, the bag I received looks nice, I just want accessories that actually look like they go with it.

Last year I purchased a Sitka in Khaki and it too looked very greenish. I actually liked it so I didn't mind. Colors will vary from lot to lot. I've seen foliage green items that looks more gray and others that look more green.

Now if you want a real mind screw, go to SDS and buy a black pack. they will send a green one and swear to you that it's black!

Never heard back from maxpedition. Went ahead and bought one of their pouches in both khaki and foilage to compare, and apparently my bag really is khaki, just has a greenish look to it.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

Hope it doesn't start a shit storm, but just throwing this out there......

Cliffs:
-Maxpedition is willing to solve an issue for a customer just because he is a edcforums memeber.
-People question what would happen if the guy didn't know about EDCF
-Maxpedition threatens the site owner not to mention maxpedition "for his own safety", and that they will take legal action.
I also heard of something similar with maxpedition and USN+Strider knives.
Can't wait till Maxpedition comes to Australia and sues me for this post lol.

I wish maxpedition made a better backpacking bag...they don't have any loops for securing a tent and sleeping bag, so even though they are built well, they aren't really practical for shorter backpacking/hiking trips where camping is involved....

:(
