Maxpedition Ripoff

Why is this a Maxpedition "ripoff"? Did they invent the backpack, or just the heavy duty backpack?

It is the same design as the Maxpedition Falcon.

I wouldn't be surprised if that backpack is made by Maxpedition. The Sportsman's Guide has this thing for buying factory seconds that don't measure up to the manufacturers standards and sells them sans logos for a fraction of the cost of the originals.

Maxpedition also make a cheaper product of the same design that is sold in Asia called Maxforce. It has the same boot print logo too. I saw it in a mag here in Japan and wrongly assumed it to be a rip off. I emaied Maxpedition about it and they set me straight.

just remember, any pack is only as good as it's suspension system. If that's not too much money for you to try a pack you've never put on your back, go for it.

Boots and packs are the two things I won't buy online unless there is an easy return policy. For either of them, being ill-fitting or having bad support will ruin their utility.

I also noticed they are branded "MILSPEC" and that Cheaperthandirt.com has the same pack for $10 less than Sportsmansguide.com...

I think for $40, I'll try it... although it will be hard to beat the Hydrastorm Cyclone I'm now using...

Anybody need a used pack??? LOL!!!!

Well, if it works, I may still have about three daypacks to get rid of - keep an eye out on the Gear For Sale forum in the near future...
