Yes I know. Another Maxpedition thread. But I just upgraded my day bag due to those threads, and I can say I should have done it sooner.
Mine came in from Two Wolves on Wednesday. Only a week and a half from when I ordered it. Not too bad for an item not in stock.
Since the rain finally stopped here I took it outside to transfer as much stuff from my old bag as I could. For its size it really does hold quite a lot.
From the CCW pouch: Poncho and folding saw.
Left zipper pouch:FAK with Benedryl, tylenol, immodium, gauze pads, tape, band aids, neosporin. Two AA and one AAA spare battery.
Top Flap zipper pouch: fire kit with fatwood,Jute,PJCBs (in match case) ,LMF Scout w/striker,full size Bic. Whistle, compass, water purification tabs.
Front zipper pouch
ill bottle fishing kit with, 3 floats, hooks, sinkers, line. 25' of Jute twine and unkown footage of 160# test waxed nylon twine for cordage. Space blanket, 2 person Heatsheet,LED minimag, E-Z lap sharpener,6' duck tape.
Bottle pouch: Bottle and cup.
Main pouch: EMPTY
. That is reserved for food for hikes. Or any stuff my son thinks he needs but can't fit in his buttpack. I tried real hard to make sure I didn't need to use the main compartment. And it turns out I didn't need to. Plus I still have a couple of slash pockets that are empty.
Just in trials out in my woods the pack seems comfortable. It stays put reasonably well(I have not used the belt loop), and doesn't flop around.
This pack will get its first use on Saturday when I take my son out for our first "real" dayhike of the season.
