I have just ordered a Maxpedition Jumbo S-type Versipack, and as I live in South Africa its a little hard to physically inspect one. I am looking for a good EDC bag thats not too large (also not too small).
What is the difference between S-Type and the other?
The wait is gonna kill me:(

Not to be a jerk, but this isnt related to ESEE knives or their use. I would get an admin to move it to gadgets.

Yes the Jumbo is made for left handed use, but really it is very ambidextrous so it won't be a problem either way. It will hold a decent amount of gear and is well made as most all Maxped products are. I think you'll like it a lot.

There is a shop in Cresta that has some of the Maxped stuff, their price are, well how shall we say it, above what you would find on ebay incl shipping and duties. And usually they only have black. Check out Gunsite SA, one of the forum members also imports Maxped.

On the versipack, I have the righthanded version and I didn't like it. Strange size, to small for a bag and to big for a murse. Besides like most Maxped stuff it screams "I carry a gun". Also the right handed version has a little cell phone holder on the strap that is always in the way, the lefty version doesn't, I would get the one without which you did by ordering the S version.

Finish rant, besides that I like the Maxped stuff. I use a Sitka as a computer bag and have changed a Proteus to work as a messenger bag. The molle attachments are great but if you buy accessories then you will also have to get the clips.

The only difference is the S-type is a left shoulder model and the regular is made for right shoulder carry. You can still carry either one on either shoulder they just arranged the bottle holder on a different side.

Also (as mentioned earlier) the right-handed version has an cell phone pouch on it, which is replaced by a section of PALS webbing on the S-type, giving you a little extra versatility.

Huh. My mistake! I was looking at the Fatboy. I guess they don't do that anymore with the Jumbo.

I have one of the blue ones myself! It's my tactical diaper bag for the little one. :D

Depends what you're going to carry in it but I love mine. It's perfect for short hikes or just stuff you'll need for the day.

There's no phone pouch on the Jumbo Versipaks right or left unless you put one on.

Great pack.

Yea I'm liking this bag a ton. I'm considering a couple more of the new colors. I like the web handle it appears they now have. I've thought a bunch of times "man...this thing needs a handle right here". Might get a mongo...but not sure if that'd be too much on one side..

the new jumbo LEO's have the phone pouch and looks like a mag pouch http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/JUMBO-L-E-O-4p1315.htm

That is tight! Good idea on Maxpeds part. Lots of officers and departments are looking for active shooter bags. I really like that mag pouch.

Of course non-AR-toting folk could put water or whatever in there.

Im a big fan of the maxpedition series..

Anyone tried to fit a nalgene bottle in the LEO version ? [mag side, 16oz/32oz]

Bodhi: How does Maxped scream "I carry a GUN!!!" I mean I do in my Remora, but not in my school bag, a Mongo.

Dizwolf: I just noticed you have a little folder hidden in the side pouch, I didn't know the littler bags came with that! I got the mongo cause of all its little hidden pockets, lol. Dang it... how come your knife has green lining inside handles?

DocBurn: Funny you should mention the LEO version, I ordered mine last Sat, going to use on me when I'm riding around ranch/farm property in June with my rifle. I love its simple design and purpose built construction. I've been having issues with my Mongo, its been falling apart on its threading, and all I've used it for is school, carrying light folders, pens, moleskines, Macbook, nothing major.

Hmmm I wonder if Maxped would consider it manufact flaw, since I've had it for so short a time, and its falling apart :\ Remora has held up with heavier stuff in it and abuse lol.

I have recived my mongo 1 week ago so i can't really tell.. but i would concider yours a manufact-flaw since I have n e v e r had any problem with my proteus, dufflebag, vulture-II [boy do i love that vulture2], water pouch, 3 kinds of rolly polly, no flaw so far.

I need to carry water and would get the LEO if I don't have to attach any water pouch or small polly.. otherwise, i should stick with edc/jumbo.. just curious about fitting a water bottle in that mag pouch on the LEO.

The mongo is huge, and perfect for what i bought it for.. but I need a pack for every situation :) like esee knives

LS: green liners are stock on rc4's with black blades. And that's a benchmade Stryker tucked in there. Also a hidden slip pocket on the back under the webbing. I keep a blur clipped in there
