MAXX 5.5 put a hole in my pocket !!

I got myself a CUDA MAXX 5.5 Stiletto for Christmas

I wore it on my left pocket
and it punched a hole thru my pocket and my jeans, my brand new jeans that I got for Christmas.....grr

is there a good way to carry this?

seems the horns of the knife make it easy to open by mistake

I was thinking either convert it to tip up carry or kydex...

would the optional pocket clip that makes it more concealed make it any harder to accidentally open it in the pocket?

what are your thoughts?

WOW! That's a bummer! Do you recall what you were doing that caused this? I have been carrying a CUDA Maxx or a custom almost daily since they were released and haven't experienced this problem. For me, I have found that with the flipper sticking out just above the pocket actually acts as a bit of a safety as the flipper rests partially on the top of the pocket providing a bit of a barrier for the flipper to easily open. Based on this I would say that the deep carry clip might not be a good option as it puts the flippers down into the pocket and there is no barrier for them to rest on.

My other question - how good is the detent on this one? Does it feel like it engages solidly? While a detent shouldn't be relied upon as the only means of keeping a blade closed, it properly done detent does a better job than most would believe.

You might want to try carrying it in your left pocket. That way the blade is against the seam and won;t open. Or, convert it to tip up and carry it in your right pocket and then the blade spine will be against that seam.

sorry. this happened to me, as well. i was attempting to put the Maxx in my pocket, and pressed on one of the "horns" as i did so. it flicked out about 1/2" just as it slid into place, poking a big hole thru the front of my Dickies!!! luckily it went out, and not in... into my leg, that is.

Too bad about the hole in your pants. That can be a big hastle. I have not had that problem, ever, with the Maxx. However my Kershaw Boa did the same thing to two pair of Dockers.

I had my cuda maxx bowie puncture through my left pant leg as well!
I tightened the hell outta the pivot point after that

It's beginning to make sense that lefties don't live as long as righties......haha....

If you don't think you accidentally opened it when putting it in your pocket I'd see how strong the detent is and think about sending it in. The detents on mine have been plenty strong enough not to open on their own.
