I just received my cude maxx. What hardness does Camillus finish them, typically? What is the 420HC lines generally hardned to, also? ...and the 154CM and the beckers while looking them up... just curious.

Thanks

The CUDA Maxx uses titanium scales, not 420HC. Camillus bead blasts the ti scales and then anodizes them.

The Beckers use 0170-6C carbon tool steel for the blades and those have a Rc of 58-59.

154CM, they are getting a Rc of 59-60 IIRC. Hope this info helps!

Thanks, How about the D2 hardness? Thanks again.

p.s. is the titanium scales hardened in any way?

riversw,
Dex handled this well for me, but he did leave that out...the D2 is tempered to 60Rc. The Ti is purchased in the "hardened state", which basically means that it is alloyed and stabilized. If we started messing with it, trying to make it harder, which is not needed, we would screw up the spring qualities, which IS neede for the lock.

I hope this helps,
