Hurricane Wilma is headed my way so I may be knocked off the net for a few days. If you are trying to contact me, stay tuned, and I will get back to you ASAP.

Here we go again, again, again, & again....  :thumbdn:

Good luck bud. Take care of yourself. This hurricane stuff must be getting old.

Tell me about it...

You know the drill. Sit tight afterwards. Let others pick up the nails in THEIR tires.

Ravioli, batteries, ammo, beer.

Good luck.

and no, thanks, this one's not for me... Florida's a big place.

It's sure been the drizzlin sh*tz this year in Florida and along the Gulf Coast!:(

Y'all do what needs doing and as Kis says, "Wacherass."

Fortunately we had a real mild year this year with the tornados, thank the Gods! I hate to hunker down in the hall or bathroom, but the nice thing about a tornado is that they fly over and are gone in almost an instant.
Helluvit is that they create a helluva lot of destruction in that instant.:(

Ironically, Floridians have had so much "practice" with hurricanes their action plans are fairly squared away. Got several family members in the so called "Sunshine State", and plenty Cantinistas (hope that dadburned Duck's cave is watertight), so I'll be doing a lot of worrying and praying. All of y'all, take care of yourselves and your families, I've got my fingers crossed for you, and hoping for the best.

Hope everything turns out OK for you and your neighbors. Looks like it's moving pretty fast across the state.

Initial damage assesment indicates it could have been a lot worse. Still, quite a bit of damage done, and quite a few folks still without power, etc.. Keeping all of y'all in Florida in my thoughts and prayers, check in when you can.

I'm back!

Lost power from 7:30AM Monday through 11:30AM Wednesday.

Some initial thoughts are that I have really cool neighbors. The hurricane winds were just beggining to receed and everyone around the city was out in the streets swinging a machete. The debris was largely policed up within hours; and, then it was on to minor repairs. The biggest problem we had was the complete collapse of the power grid, which brought down the entire communications system within 24 hours, and put everyone at risk. Even so, some local businesses were able to open on their own generator power; and they and their employees, deserve praise for doing their best to serve the community. I didn't see any crime, nor any price gouging; if anything people were more polite then usual. Perhaps it was our ability to tell time by the sound of racking shotguns at dusk that encourage one and all; but, the experience has been very much unlike New Orleans.

The rest of the city has held up well; but Forida Power and Light is truely begging for the red hot poker. Their repair teams have been doing an outstanding job; but, whomever designed their network to fail in tropical force winds needs to be looking for a new job.

Great news, darned glad to hear it, and to have you back. A bit early in the day to hoist a mug, but you can bet sometime around sundown I'll be doing my "happy dance". :D

Thanks for the update, N2S. Pop one set of concerns off the stack.

I'm glad your experience was, well, sort of positive.

Good news, N2S. Thanks.

Did you have to throw out everything in the fridge?

We usually do. :thumbdn:
