This is awesome! I have been waiting for a shelter challenge!:thumbup::thumbup:

This should be very fun, especially since I get at least one night away from the wife and enjoy some peace and quite.

I'd really love to do this one, but I just don't know if I'll get the time away from the family; though I'll try to get away for a couple days.

3 feet all around of insulation in an hour? nfw. even when i tried this prepped, it took 3 hours. it still leaked. even KNOWING better, i couldn't do this in less than 2 hour without busting a hump. i'll buy a drink for anyone that shows me different :)

let's face it kidz, you sign up for this one, you are PUTTING OUT. go you :)

pssst, bring a tarp :)

Yeah, that's totally my challenge now. Hauling wood while on crutches may or may not suck hard. Guess I'll have to make a harness to which I can attach a logging chain. I could also try to enslave a few bodybuilders to make my shelter. Or I could learn telekinesis. Whatever comes first.

Bring a mule to haul yer shit man. That's what I'm gonna do, I mean it'll be a goat but whats the difference.

Where do I get a goat? Or a mule? What do I feed him? Can I hold him in my bathtub here on the 2nd floor in my 500 sq ft 2-room apartment? :D

Man, what a good thing that I do that by default! (Care to explain what "German construction" is?)

:D

Germans tend to over build most everything. Ethan's heritage is German, hence the BKT overkill of durability and design. Mercedes, Beer, Chocolate, oh, and who could forget the German War Hammer. Brutal, and overbuilt. :D

I'm German and my wife says I'm overbuilt in the right areas......
The wallet?

This Is going to be a fun contest, I just hope we get a couple days without rain! When I was little I used to build little forts from branches and brush but nothing like this, so hopefully it will be a good learning experience as well as a fun one!

I used to do the same thing when I was a kid. We had some pretty nice forts, we set traps (good ones), made bows and arrows, clubs, and other stuff. I was a wilderness kid, seems like having kids has slowed me down some, but at least they are getting out and getting some of what I got to do. My oldest calls it, "Adventure" time. Gonna take them backcountry soon.

I grew up in socal and never really did any of this stuff. Been making up for lost time the last few years. I've built or at least helped build 2 lean to's , and 2 debris huts, never anything fancy. I'd love to try that wigwam.

Good luck with this people, it looks to be a very fun contest!

I'm going with a 4500 sq. ft., hip roof, Gambrel :D
