Just got my small Obenauf Model 3 today.

Desert Storm scales
3 1/8" Modified Wharncliff in D2
7 1/2" OAL
Serial # 2 :)

Of the 5 folders I have from Mike this represents his best work to date, and that's saying a lot. His fit and finish are as good as ever, lock-up is typical perfect and his grinds are very smooth and well executed.

Nice pics. That is probably the best Obenauf I have seen to date(now I havent seen that many:D ) That definitely looks like a real keeper.

I just placed an order for an Model 2 in Desert G-10 -- thanks for the picture that is really sweet. Enjoy!

Yep, I like that a lot.

My small model 1, #3 -- seems like he changed his numbering scheme.

Thanks for all of the comments.

This knife is really a cool little piece and built like a tank. Appears to have the same size pivot and stop pin as all of his others, that's some serious hardware in a ~3" blade..

Michael, Mike numbered his first 20 of the Model 1. They were random and numbered together as they were created. I have #19 and #20 of which one is a large model 1 and one is a small model 1..

On future models I think he is only numbering the first 10.

Yeah, well...

I don't have any numbered Obenaufs. So there!

However, I *will* shamelessly and without any foundation whatsoever claim complete and total responsibilty for having the good sense to purchase my Small Model 2 in desert G-10; and furthermore; having so liberally plastered pictures of it here on the forum do solely claim all Obenaufs in desert G-10 the intellectual and thusly the physical property of me.

So hand it over Pirtle, don't make me pay a visit to Twinsburg this week. :p

Seriously, looks awesome. Great lines.

Really, I'm not that jealous....

For a tired, old, worn out maker, it has been such a joy to teach Mike. To say "the best student I've ever had" is an understatement.
Now that Mike knows how to build them right, I'm looking forward to watching him develop his talents and come out with some really neat designs.

Thanks for the pictures guys.., very nice work...
