Like I said, maybe I'm just missing where they are but this sub forum only appears to go back a month or two, where are the old threads ?

Make sure you're settings are correct. Go to Settings --> then select General Settings on the left --> then go down to the option "Default Thread Age Cut Off" and change it to Show all threads.
