I love these... Two are orders, one is coming with me to Ohio in October. I have to make more of this san mai.

Wow those are fantastic. I love the "patch" near the tip in the second photo.

Wow, again. Nice work! Please tell us more.

Not much to tell. The core steel is 1095 except the one with the "patch" which is 1084. The outer parts are A203E, which is very low carbon (like .09%), but very high in nickel, which is what I was looking for. I dont care about the low carbon, the outside parts dont do the cutting, and the 1095 or 1084 does wonders in that department.

Your knives are truly inspiring. Every time I see one I think that I need to get into forging blades instead of just stock removal, these just drive that point home even further.

Where did you find out how to forge the san mai? Is it difficult?

Not difficult with the right equipment. You need a forge that will reach welding heat, some flux and either an anvil and a lot of energy, patience and knowledge...or a press. I have a press.

How is priced the lower one? I love that shape! Is that knife edge false or real?
BTW the stain on knife's point looks awesome.

I havent figured out pricing yet... we will see. The edge will be sharp, but since I have a lot more to do on them, and I like my fingers, I have not sharpened them yet. That stain is actually a piece of the laminate steel, it etches a much lighter color than the 1084 or 1095

I like this (kind of) shape with false edge, because it's more practical for me, even if it looks great, though (especially on your blade). I don't really see assets in second edge, so I would go for false one. Anyway - your laminate steel "pattern" looks awesome! I'm not really fan of damask-like patterns, because many of them looks fancy, but this one looks both rough and smooth. Good job, man!

Excellent blades, love the pattern. Reminds me of the folder Ed Caffery did with stainless san mai.

The false edge just gives more room for the San Mai to show off! I love that one on the bottome - the contrast is just fantastic!

Let me clarify, When i meant the edge would be sharp, I was referring to the regular edge. I misunderstood the original post. The false edge will be, well...false.
Thanks for the comments everyone. Some of these will be getting handles tomorrow.

I don't know if they are your coolest yet because I haven't seen all that you have made, but they are well up there on the cool meter, can't wait to see them with their clothes on

Here they are with handles.
