I got a new CRK 25 last week. It is a great knife for sure. When I got it I was checking how sharp it was straight from the factory. It was sharp as you might expect. It was however not as sharp as my Large Insingo that I sharpened/stropped recently on my Wicked Edge. I tested them side by side. I was happy that my results were so good. However, I spent a couple hours on the Insingo and I am sure CRK does not spend that much time sharpening a new knife. None the less I am was happy to find my results compare favorably to a CRK factory edge and I am looking forward to even better results moving forward.

I completely know what you mean. When I got a cold steel I was like "Wow it cuts paper and cardboard!" Then I got some kershaws and was amazing that "Wow it shaves hair!" then when I got a lansky sharpening system I could make all my knives shaving sharp. Now I use an edge pro system and my seb 25 is hair splicing sharp. For me, once I discovered I could attain higher levels of sharpness, there was no going back

I look foward to when I'll be capable of working up to the levels of sharpness of which you all speak. I'm still a novice, still developing technique. My improvement seems to come in spurts, but is consistent enough to keep me working towards ubber sharpness via the free hand method.
