Maybe off-topic but...

Does Busse make its own layered scales to get the multi-colored effect or is that a manufacturer/sub-contractor thing?

If this question has already been asked I can't find the thread.

Busse makes their own

Really? While its conceivable that they might make their own micarta (though I doubt it), I cant imagine that they would bother to have the facilities onsite to make a product like G10 when its so easily available commercially.

Busse makes their own

Why!?

There is so many nice micarta laminates (different colors (like camo, and turquoise etc) and materials ie canvas, linen, burlap (tan, emerald, coffee bean), paper) out there
same goes for G10

I vaguely remember there being a quote around here that they make their own. Something about quality control or something.

There are a lot of options however I would really steer you away from natural materials if it is gonna be a camping knife. Even though we stabalize all of our natural material it is still suseptable to shrinking and swelling when exposed to the elements. If you want something different than the norm but still tough as nails then we could do something with hand shaped g10. We could add liners as well if you would like. This is just my opinion and if you are set on natural material them we can do that for you.

That was a email from Garth he was talkin about doing new handles for me, he says how they stabilize their own naturals, and earlier back they talk about g10 in another thread.
