Mayo Balisong!!

Oh, what good news! I've been encouraging Mr. Mayo to take up a balisong design for some time. I suspect that our own Sniperboy may also have been pushing a little behind the scenes. One or two other names on Tom's list come to mind too. I'm glad to see this and I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

YAAAY! A new balisong that'll look like swiss cheese! :p :D :p Really, I love what I have seen of Mr. Mayo's work, and I really can't wait to see how this turns out!

Swiss Cheese! That's funny!

I don't know much about Mayo, but some of his knives look pretty good. Funny that he lives in Hawaii. I used to live there. Grew up there actually. 18 years of my life. Then I moved to Omaha, NE.

But it's great that a new bali-maker is coming out. There's kind of been a flood of new knives to hit the market recently. What's going on? But then again, variety makes the world a better place.

Swiss cheese, heh.

Wouldn't it be weird if the handles are just plain slabs of ti, instead? All these balis with skeletonizing, and inserts, and all that, and then _Mayo_ makes a bali with _nothing_ on/in/through the handles...

Hmm, I think a bali with fuller-like grooves on the handles on it would look great. Might be lousy for manipulating, though.

Oh My!! I'd love to see Tom make a Balisong(s)! If you are listening/reading Tom..., Wax-it-up-and-get-it-on!!!

Tom will know what I mean :) .., and "Bloody Knuckles"...Tom does "live" in Hawaii.., but he's an old <~~ (did I say old)...lol...So California surfer guy like me.

We will be "Happy Campers" if Tom gets into Balisongs.., trust me!

A Mayo TNT (Titanium and Talonite). Wow, this will be on my wish list big time. Maybe if I jump in the car and drive to Waialua and camp out in his yard, he will make me one just to get me to go home to Kahaluu. Hey, it's worth a try. But believe me, If Tom makes a bali, or any other knife, it will be first class quality all the way. I am going to watch for this one.

The "Smile"....., is a good thing! :D

Well, now that the Tom Mayo has signed off on the project with his lack of denial..... Here's what I hope is first: Tom's Talonite Recurve blade in that typical "swiss cheesed" titanium handles. Of course, I'm willing to bet that this will be a sandwich construction bali.

Hey Tom, I have a Breitling B1 (blue face) to trade for your bali's.:D

Mr. Mayo tells me that he probably won't get STARTED on this project until some time this summer. So, it's probably a Q4 thing at the earliest.

Mr. Mayo is a talented knife maker with many years of experience who has made many, many fine conventional folders. But, even such great knife makers have found the balisong challenging. As I've often said, it's deceptively complicated. Deceptive in that it looks so simple, a blade, two handles, a latch, simple. Complicated in that everything has to fit just right. Complicated in that some features are visible only when the knife is open but functional only when closed, and vice a versa. So, while I'm sure that Mr. Mayo will be able to make fine balisongs and I'm excited to see what he comes up with, we do need to allow him the time and space to experiment with this new design.

With that said... I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait!!!
