Smooth action and comfortable to use. My only gripe would be that the handle could use some smoothing along the edges. When you hold it in your hand, the edges of the handle all the way around the knife are a bit harsh. It doesn't affect the performace at all of course, but I think the knife would just have a better feel in the hand with a smoother handle.

What about using some fine sand paper to smooth the edges? The handles are aluminum. Is that correct?.

Yes, aluminum handles. I just wouldn't expect to need to do something like that with a Mayo or a Buck. Yes, it's a low cost, foreign made knife with no visions of grandeur. I was just a little surprised.

Some sand paper or my Dremel with a sanding disc would probably do the trick. Not sure I want to alter it though. If this is what Mayo/Buck intended, who am I to change it? ;)

Lots of people have done minor, non threatening mods to their knives. "Personalizing" if you will. I re profiled my Buck/Strider 881 to have a thinner edge to improve slicing. I also took some fine grit paper to my small Sebenza and polished the handles. Personal touches are cool!

I'll be in Hawaii in October of 2006 for my honeymoon. What a generous offer Tom!

I'm sure my wife will be thrilled...

;)
