Hello, I need help with a few questions about this knife. #1. Is this knife a Lockback or Midlock Folder? What is the difference? This knife is stamped McBurnette. I noticed that most of the McBurnette knives I have seen are marked McBurnette EAGLES NEST N.M. Is this one an early McBurnette that was built before he moved to N.M? I acquired this knife about 35 years ago, but I have no idea when it was made.

if I recall correctly, Steven Garsson has knowledge regarding the subject at hand, hopefully he'll find his way here

if the OP could get images to show, I might be able to assist. I do have a couple of HM's folders and mine were purchased in that same time frame. Both are Eagles Nest knives and are mid-locks which means that the release of the opened blade for closing it is just behind the front bolster. A rear lock is as the term implies as opposed to a pure tail lock which is strictly at the end of the knife and can be offered in a couple of configurations depending upon the maker. HTH

I just looked: Harvey O. McBurnette was listed in the Knives Annuals 1981,1982, 1983 from Piedmont AL.

Mark: Name.

All subsequent years were from Eagles Nest NM.

Mark: Name, city, state.

It's a midlock folder. Nicely made, very him.

Thanks for the information. So I guess this one would be considered an early McBurnette, Not that it matters, I was just curious. That would explain why all the others that I have seen have been marked EAGLES NEST N.M.
