McCann Puffin Wave

The dyed wooden handles are odious. That really makes them look like cheap imports. I would avoid that and get natural colored wood grips. The "microserrations" that are machined in are running the wrong way to serve as serrations. They will simply give the blade extra drag when you chop into things. They are also pretty dumb.

Overall the dimensions and materials are pretty good. At 56RC I think you get a pretty good balance between toughness and hardness for a hard-use blade. It is designed more as a chopper than as a utility knife. If that is what you are looking for it is a reasonable choice.

yeah I kind of figured that I would need to redo the edge, those micro serrations sound like something from dork-ops

I had a Puffin Magnum and it was a really nice blade. i would look at the Magnum over the Wave
