THIS KNIFE IS DOUBLE EDGED
BOTH EDGES ARE SHARP
It's 15" overall and weighs 24 oz.
The blade is 1095 spring steel 10" X 1.3/4" X 1/4" thick.
The guard, bolster, and pommel sides are 1018 steel WELDED
to the full tang.
The handle is 4. 3/4" long with scales of Curly Maple.
The sheath is 10 oz. leather with black steel rivits and a
black steel snap. It's cemented at the spacer and hand stitched
using doubled waxed nylon saddle stitching thread.
The rough beveled blade is reheated in the forge to glowing red
and quenched in strained used motor oil. After it's cleaned of slag
it's brought back up in temp. untill it can be struck with a file.
I leave the file marks showing. I like a handmade knife to look
handmade.
This is how I harden / tempor my blades. They hold an edge
extremely well.

All your work is beatiful in a rough sort of way. Awesome job, your knives are always a treat to see :)

I've been getting many emails with questions about this post
so I thought I'd add some info......

I forge blanks for the knives above (and a few other designs)
in very small numbers and take orders on the knives to be finished
out from them.
If I have a blank made for it, I'll take an order on it...

So yes I take orders, but very limited.
I don't send emails to notify anyone of upcoming knives any longer.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Love your work!
Do you think you will ever make another khukuri?
If so, I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

I'm new here, but those knives have really inspired me. Now I'm planning a fighter styled like yours. They are so roughly beautiful, I'd love to have the skill to make something like those someday.

As an owner of one of your resin handled bowie I must say you make excellent blades :)

That d guard resin handled cutless, I WILL own one someday :)
