I posted this in the "Knife review and testing" and so far have not gotten a response, so thought I'd see what the rest of you guys know.

I'm looking at an MC61D Mcusta fixed blade knife with the micarta inlay. I can't see from the pix how the micarta is held in the interframe handle. It looks like the interframe is grooved and the micarta machined with a tongue around it that is perhaps pressed into place???? Does anyone know how that's accomplished or held in place in the interframe?

Well, it appears no one else knows either, so I sent an email to Japan asking them. I got the response this a.m. I've copied and pasted a portion of it here for you:

"Thank you for your interest in Mcusta MC-61D Fixed blade with Black Micarta handle. The micarta slabs are glued in the recesed inter-frame handle with strong adhesive tape. So far, we had no complains from the users, but it may come off after long use in wet condition. You can of course re-glue it, if that happened".

Now we all know!!!!

Strong adhesive tape is what Chris Reeves uses to put the fancy woods and micarta onto/into his Sebenza's. Double sided tape can obviously be very good.
FWIW I happen to like my Mcusta folder quite a lot.

I don't know if I like the idea of glued on scales. Having said that them being up front about the wet condition issue says a lot about them as a company.

Mcusta is an excellent company quality wise. It's good to have honesty to. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape out of the tape thing. There are some custom makers that do it to on more expensive knives. Same thing with other production knives. Joe
