does anybody here have any experience with mcusta or kanetsune knives? the local guy i buy a lot of my knives from had a case of mcustas and they were all gorgeous, especially the ebony and damascus handled knives.

he's also got a few kanetsunes, one of which i picked up and reviewed on knifeforums a while ago.

i'm wondering if anybody here has a knife from these two makers, and if so, your thoughts on 'em.

thanks!

I've got a damascus Mcusta and its a beautiful knife. EXTREMELY sharp right out of the box and a good solid lock up. I haven't really put it through its paces as of yet so I cant really tell you how well it holds up to hard work though

My Mcusta is one of the smoothest opening knives I have, great craftsmanship, crazy sharp, and holds a good edge. I'm actually keeping my eyes open for a good deal on another.

I have had several Mcusta and still have a few. I love them. Very well made with great materials. I really like the Tactility models for their larger offerings.

haha. you guys have convinced me. now the question is, do i save up for the bk7, the colorful enduras and delicas coming out, or an mcusta? :D

I edc'd a couple. They did a great job and looked good doing it. I still keep two a damascus and an LE. You'll not be disappointed.

Mcusta makes a superb knife. The Kanetsune knives that I've handled all showed excellent quality. They are a little pricey but they sell a few bare blades that need only a handle and guard that are very affordable Most of their knives are 36 layer damascus. The Hana with it's 14 3/4" blade is very interesting.

Mcusta makes a great knife. My Basic is the smoothest-opening knife I've ever owned. Very sharp, very nice-looking, and right under $100. I've never handled a Kanetsune, so I can't comment on it.

I have a Mcusta 121D and it's very elegant--bigger in hand than I expected from pictures. Love the grip of the handles and the feel in hand.

The etched blade is beautiful, and was scary sharp out of the box.

One word of warning, though: tip-up in pocket, it's possible to slide your finger by the exposed blade tip and then bleed all over the place for a minute or so before you notice.

I handled one McCusta from a friend, and man was it nice! I want one real bad, but cannot seem to find a great deal on them, which means to me that they are sleepers, and no one is willing to part with one second hand.
I recommend you handle one, you will spring for it. I see them on auction sites all the time around 90 dollars or so. I doubt you will be disappointed.....

i handled the damascus take and the ebony wood handle. both felt very nice in hand; the ebony especially was very comfortable with a solid, filing handle and finger grooves.

and i didn't ask the price, as i'd spent my knife allowance already today! :)
