exactly what it says. my dad just retired from the navy after 24 years and i want to get him a nice knife. he likes damascus and this is a great knife with damascus from what i have seen. adn we jsut served our last tour in japan. see the irony:D thanks for the help guys. any other suggestions in that price range even if not damascus is good too:thumbup:

I have a Mcusta and its a great folder extremely sharp and the Damascas Blade is very distinct. I highly recommend it especially for the price. You can't go wrong especially if your Dad likes Damascas.

Mcusta is a great brand. I agree you can't really go wrong. They are however light use knives which is something to keep in mind.

If you want something a little more work oriented I recommend any of the spydercos which are made in both Japan and USA. They recently came out with a G-10 flat ground delica and endura which I personally would rather get over a mcusta in the 100 dollar range.

Good luck!

Great knives. I have purchased two of them (in VG-10) that I've been really happy with. I think my favorite is the Yoroi which sort of resmbles the handle of a Samurai Sword to me.

I shopped around and was able to get each for $90 ish. Great fit, finish, and action. My one and ONLY gripe is they are a tiny bit small for my big 'ol hands, but I still think they are great knives.

Nice knives. Not heavy duty hard core prying folders, but good quality general use folders. Here's a pic of mine:

ya i know it isnt a strider or whatnot, but it sure looks like ti will do a good job of opening boxes and breaking em down, and small things like that. it is gonna be more of a gentlemans knife than a hardcore user like say the griptilian that i have.

Mcusta knives are excelent, infact the mc-1 is one of my current favorite knives. It came uber sharp from the factory and was on par with my minirukus. You cant go wrong getting one, my only problem though is that their paper micarta is a little slick.

The 2 Mcusta I have, 1 in Damascus have served me well and the finish&workmanship is beyond question.

Another Japanese make worth looking into is MOKI

I have an MC4 in San Mai- first-class workmanship, and an excellent value in a gent's-type folder.

I have a Mcusta Take in ebony and damascus. It's a really nice knife, although I haven't carried it yet - I got it to have in my pocket at my wedding (coming up in August), and am going to save it until that event.
In any case, it's a nice piece of useful pocket jewelry. It looks really classy, the fit & finish are great, lockup is solid, and it feels good in the hand. Definitely a gentleman's knife, though, not a workhorse.
