first and foremost, to my lovely wife mrs. jaiofspam, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
super super awesome letting me enjoy my fathers day gift(s) in advance.
quick specs:
weight: 4oz
closed: 4 1/4”
blade length: 3 1/4”
OAL: 7 3/4"
coated stainless steel frame lock
33layer nickel Damascus blade with vg10 core (san mai)
right hand tip up only
made in japan
EDIT: the knife does not feature aluminum overlays upon closer inspection. the handles are coated stainless steel. loses some cool factor, we'll see how the coatings wears...
the mcusta mc-0114bd tsuchi shadow is a highly attractive asian influenced design that is suitable as a gentlemen's carry folder. it features and for the first time ive seen on a production knife a beautiful dimpled/pebble pattern on coated solid stainless steel liners. the pattern is more commonly seen on japanese katana tsuba and i fell in love with the knife instantly. as i held the knife for the first time in my hands, it may be a tad bit heavy to drop in one's pockets at 4oz. its elegance and functionality are uncompromised however. the knife arrived flawless besides the minor blade centering issue which i will probably correct on my own. it is extremely smooth and lightening fast to deply. the deployment method is very similar to the chris reeve umnumzaan where you push the thumb studs forward vs. swinging the blade out. the 33layer damascus vg10 core blade came extremely sharp out of the box as expected. the frame lock has a rock solid early engagement. the pocket clip which is setup for right hand tip down carry only was a bit disappointing and detracted from the knife's beauty. overall, i am very pleased with it. i have yet to come across any folder of this style.
