Mcusta or Fallkniven?

No contest, Fallkniven FH9 Micarta all the way.

I feel your pain, I have often looked at Mcusta, but have never pulled the trigger on one. That particular model is very appealing.

I own and use the Fallkniven FH9, so I know it is a well built, solid folder with excellent fit and finish.

I have to go with the devil I know and vote for the FH9.

They are two very different knives... I recommend figuring out which one you want for what reasons before putting down any money. I personally prefer VG10 because it's a great steel and sharpens relatively easily. I was very close to buying a mother of pearl FH9 on ebay(for $200, the one you put a link to is very over priced) but then I basically decided I didn't need a blade designed for hunting(even though it's incredibly sexy!) and I realized I wouldn't want to spend 3x as long sharpening it at the end of a hard days work. Mcusta make some stunning blades... I bought one recently but The tip was so thin and sharp (designed to penetrate) that I was worried about it breaking off if used hard so I decided to sell it to a friend. neither turned out to be right for me regardless of how dead sure I was about getting them xD. I recommend buying your favorite for practical reasons and if you're not satisfied sell it and get the other.
Best wishes,
Gabriel.

I own several knives in both VG10 and 3G (SGPS) and my experience is that 3G does take a bit longer to sharpen than VG10, but not even close to 3X as long.

Both are excellent steels IMO and I personally wouldn't choose one knife over another just to get 3G instead of VG10. However, I also most certainly wouldn't dismiss any knife because it is 3G. My mileage.

I certainly agree that choosing the knife that best suits your anticipated needs it the smart way to decide.

I dunno neither for me, the mcusta is a bit gaudy, and the fallkniven is a bit plain. If I had to choose though Plain > gaudy. Yeah Fallkniven for me, the VG-10 @ 229 euros. What's that 350-370 USD, a bit too expensive.

Mcusta. Absolutely. for one simple reason: I want this knife too.
I hope you, that some US dealers stock this model for much less.

I do not have experience with either knife, but based off of my experience with my mcusta MC-1, I would have to go with the mcusta. It had great fit and finish, its out of box sharpness comes in second only to my sebbie, and it cuts like a laser.

I had an all metal Take and it was incredibly sharp.
It was too smooth for my grip though.
This one looks like it would stick better with the wood part.

I LOVE the way Mcusta's look. I don't have one but whenever I see one I always say "I gotta get one of those!". I don't know why I don't have one yet.

I also love Falkniven but that particular one does nothing for me.
