Mcusta Tactility locks up too EARLY(?!?)

I just picked up an Mcusta Tactility (solid VG-10 blade w/thumb hole, quince wood scales) and it is gorgeous. Only problem is that the liner lock engages too early. I'm a bit reluctant to send it back, since it's the last one they had in stock. I'm contemplating taking it apart and doing a bit of file work on the liner... Good idea or bad?

Let it break-in on its own rather than messing with it.

Agreed — just let it break in naturally. Worst case, you'll just have another excuse to fondle a beautiful knife.

It is a small gentlemanly knife: are you going to stub something/somebody with it? It could be a slipit as far as I am concerned. I see very early lockup in this knife as an advantage: it will last you longer without blade play.

As long as the lock up is solid and there's no blade play, I would leave it alone. Taking a file to a liner, unless you really know what you're doing (not my case), will create more problems than it solves.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone.

There's no blade play, but when I open the knife slowly and let the lock click into place, moderate hand pressure on the spine (NOT spine whacks) overcomes the lock and the blade folds. When I snap the blade out with authority, it doesn't budge. I'm totally okay with snapping the blade out; I've just never run into this with any liner lock knife before.
