Mcusta Tanbo Issues

Hello, I have an Mcusta Tanbo that seems to have some problems, and I'm wondering about why this is. It has a huge amount of blade play, the blade is almost touching on of the liners in the closed position, there is a little mark on the bottom of the handle that looks like a small dent, and the backspacer is only held by one screw, causing it to pivot, and when I tried tightening the screw, it instantly got stripped. :grumpy: There are also many spots with other little dents and things. What are your experiences with Mcusta in general? What are your experiences with the Tanbo? Is this perhaps a fake? I ordered it from Knifeworks, so if you had a similar experience with them, please mention it. I don't know if this is common with Mcusta, just the Tanbo, or if it's really a rare one-time thing or if it's just a fake. Everything else, like the damascus and the action and stuff, is fine. It came really sharp. The packaging seemed authentic enough. I'm just trying to see if I can trust Mcusta to give me a good product if I buy one of theirs in the future. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds to me like you somehow received a used one that's been tinkered with.

I've seen a handful, and all were great quality, but that's not to say there aren't some duds, I've just never seen one, though like i said, i've only seen a handful.

I have heard some good things about Mcusta, but this is the only one I've handled. As far as it being used or not, that's why I asked about experiences with Knifeworks.

I have only handled a dozen or so Mcustas in a store, for a few minutes. I went to buy one, so I wanted to love them. Each one I picked up had some sort of issue: play in a couple, and centering when closed was terrible on several. Not quite rubbing the liner, but close. I left without buying.

I don't know if that is representative, but I came away thinking they were prettier than they were tightly built. I've never ordered one online for fear of getting a poorly finished example.

I just figured it was weird because lots have said they are a good quality company. Thanks for the responses.
