I have been buying nothing but Spyderco for the last few years. I honestly can't remember last time I bought another brand. Lately I have been looking for something different and saw a Mcusta Katana and was curious what others thought about it's quality.

I am usually not a fan at all of liner locks but I like the way the knife looks. Anybody have any advice on this knife? Thanks

All Mcusta's are top notch knives and not just for the money. I doubt you will be disappointed. I own several. I like the Tactility models a lot.

I have a Tactility model and it is a first-rate knife. The quality is fully on par with Spyderco or Benchmade.

I dont own any but have handles a couple--great looking knives and they definaty look like they are users. My guess its that their tips are a little brittle being so thin though (at least on the couple i had a chance to handle)

I handled a few of their liner locks and quality was on par with Spyderco. The ones I saw were all pretty much the same design with different handle options. Lots of choices. Mcusta also makes really cool money clip knives.

Hey guys thanks for all the helpful advice. You know how it is (or maybe you don't) when you get hung up on one manufacturer. This knife really looks good to me but I don't want to drop a 100 bucks or more on a knife that will end up in the exchange.

I really appreciate all your help!

mcusta's are so overlooked & unerrated. their vg-10 damascus is real nice, holds & keeps a real sharp edge. i have a katana, & the 3.5" folder with corian handles, both in damascus. if you go to japaneseknifedirect.com, theres great pictures of all the models,+ many new ones that are really unbelievable, carved handles with koi fish in them, & much more.if you go to the mcusta website, they show some pictures of the people working on the knives. real cool.

I got mine from a very generous forumite (you know who you are! :) ), and it's the perfect dress knife. Low clip with some slick scales. The VG-10 is on par with Spyderco's work, takes a very keen edge. After finishing up on the UF rods it floated hair off my arm. I would recommend it.

This is great to hear as I have been wanting one of their Classic Damascus or Classic Wood/Damascus for a long time. The Classic's are in my opinion the best looking production one hand openers on the market.
Thanks for the link too. Great pics there. Are their prices about the average for these?

You can always try out a Mcusta with Browning's name on it, CDNN has Mcusta made Browning Ice Storms for under 30 bucks right now on clearance. These are VG-10 steel but not damascus. I have been EDCing one for over a year and it is a great blade and worth far more than I paid for it.

I'm tempted to buy one of thier damascus folders, just not sure about the quality of the
VG-10 core forged with 33 layered nickel Damascus steel
. Who make this steel and how tough is it, it look so nice though ;)

I love the "damascus" (I'm not sure it's true damascus) bladed Mcustas but I feel like the standard VG-10 models are smoother to open.

The Mcusta line is amazing and you will not be disappointed in the Katana model. I own the Browning Ice Storm which is touted as being made by Mcusta. After looking the knife over, I
think that could be a possibility. In reality, the Mcusta katana is a better looking blade, but to
each his own.

I've git a Yoroi and it is spectacular. I am most definitely going to pick up a few more Mcusta knives in the future. I really want to get a Katana but they are out of stock everywhere. I hope they are available soon because I will probably buy 2 of them. One for my collection and the other for an EDC.

I'll pile on here. Mcusta makes GREAT knives. In fact, they made a knife for Browning I consider to be the best bang-for-the-buck knife I ever came across. It was called the Ice Storm. And back in the day, it cost all of $30.00 with a VG-10 blade and aluminum handle. My Ice Storm is among the smoothest-opening knives I own. And it doesn't even have ball bearings! :)
