I havent messed with the mcusta stuff. How are they? quality, durability. comfort. what do they compare to as far as all that goes

I think the're pretty special. They are not the biggest but incredibly smooth and really well built. They are all finished by hand. I have a Tactility model and it really is as smooth as my Chris Reeve Sebenza (so is my Lum Tanto). Check them out. "Wealljuggleknives" has a couple review up on youtube. Cheers.

really good stuff, I enjoy their san mai damascus with a VG-10 core, just wish they could make one thats leftie friendly

I've owned one and handled a few others, and they're nice knives. As already mentioned, the first thing that stands out about them is how smoothly they open (due in part to the use of teflon washers). I also agree with the comment about very good build quality.

If I had to describe the niche they fit into, I'd say that they have the looks of a gentlemen's knife but size, blade shape, and build quality suitable for most EDC tasks. Definitely worth considering if you like how they look and are wanting to try something beyond the more common brands (Kershaw/ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc.).

are they benchmade quality, or sebenza quality?
At least among production knives, CRK's stuff is in a class of its own in terms of F&F/attention to detail, but I'd definitely put Mcusta on a par with Benchmade.

its a gift for someone, as to say thanks. but I want it to be carried and used, not kept in a safe.
I think a Mcusta would be a great choice for this purpose.

I really enjoy their models with hardwood, or micarta. I'm not too fond of the models with pocket clip. They tend to dig into my hand a bit. That being said, I haven't held the Katana series. My experience has been with older models, mostly.

I have the Mcusta MC-1 with quince wood and damascus and it is a gorgeous knife. Top shelf fit and finish and the VG-10 core holds a killer edge.

The gentleman's version is one of my favorite folders ever, thinking about getting the green micarta version ,the cocobolo version is super.
