MDF sharpening stones

mdf makes good strops also. just put some compound on it or some diamond paste and you have a good hone with no 'give' like leather.

What I do not completely understand is they say that once the paper is dull/used up, that you just throw away the block and cut another one. Can that be right/necessary? I would like to make a set for my Nephew, but not if it is only a once and done setup.

Anyone have any personal experience with this method?

They must mean you throw the paper away and get another piece. There's no reason I can think of to toss the whole block.

Yes. I agree. I'm sure they are just tossing the used paper. As for 'cutting a new one', I'm sure they're referring to a new piece of sandpaper. The adhesive-backed sandpaper is 'peelable'. Just remove the old piece, and stick on a new piece.
