So me and my buddy DrOpPoInT1110 went to a gun show today on Long Island, New York. There was a TON of knives there, and we managed to take home some nice ones.

For me,

I bought my first spyderco, a 136GP PERSISTENCE, full flat grind. This is not only my first spyderco, but also my first knife with G10 handles. LOVE IT!

I also took home a extremely nice no name folder that the assist is rediculously strong on and there is practically no play in the blade.

Next up is a SMITH & WESSON SORTBS S.O.R.T. assisted folder. its absolutely tiny, about the size of a kershaw ken onion chive. amazing little folder, can't wait to give it a beating.

Lastly, I got a kershaw 1820ST NEEDS WORK, and its a great beefy, chubby, assisted wharncliffe knife. Grips aren't the most appealing looks but it is one of the most comfortable knives i've ever held, as said many times about kershaws.

Now to my buddy Droppoint. He found a tiny Protech Runt 2, first production run, #486. WOW! Now that is a catch! Brand new condition, looks like it's never been used by the previous. green splash/marble anodized handles.

So between me and him we had an awesome day, deff going to report back from the show when we do it again next year.

So thats it? of course not! I'll hand the mic over to Droppoint, and we'll both be putting up pics of our new toys.

I have to agree with Gosdent..it was a great show. I just posted a thread on my Runt so you can all check it out http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835070 . There were alot of knives I wish I could have purchased but there were just way too many choices and not enough money. A few that caught my eye were a couple Pro-Techs (the one I bought and another small Pro-Tech with the blue Jazz handles and an ATS-34 blade), a plain edge Kershaw Steven Segal, a CRKT Apache, and an original Strider SNG (#078) that belonged to one of the vendors. There was also a very good selection of more common poduction knives from Spyderco, Kershaw, Bechmade...all the major manufacturers. I wish there were some custom folders but those may have been snatched up yesterday. In addition, the vendors were all very cool people. All in all, it was a much better batch of blades than I had anticipated and a great opportunity to meet and talk to some fellow knife knuts. I'll deffinately be returning from now on.

Where was this show and how did you hear about it? Whenever I look for LI gun/knife shows I come up with nothing :(

where was this how? I always go to the Freeport and NorthEast arms show, but I did not know about this one?

thanks...I guess it is a wait till the fall....How many knife dealers were there?

There were about 3 or 4 really good dealers with reputable brands and knew their stuff. Each of them had a decently large selection with a nice variety. The one guy I bought my Pro-Tech from had the largest quantity by far (5 completely covered tables).

Thanks for the info...I will have to make the next show! It is in the fall right? I assume the Pro Tech was some what hidden as they don't allow autos for sale in NY and for the last few years they have been checking for them....

Yes, the next show is in September I believe. The Pro-Tech was partially hidden amongst other knives but I happened to notice it. You are allowed to purchase full-size autos with presentation of a valid military or police i.d.

The law allows for sale to LEOs but it does not well define who is a authorized dealer. I have seen guys taken out in handcuffs for selling them at Freeport. It was a few years back. FFL holders claim they are the only authorized dealers of them. Not true but they come the closest....If you're not a LEO then make sure you have a fishing or hunting/trapping license to own one...

I am well aware and was somewhat hesitant to purchase the knife but he had an entire display case of auto's and signs about sales regulations so I figured he was ok. Also, the police there didn't say anything to him about it so I was pretty sure he was allowed to be selling. I do have a fishing license so I'm good to own it although it will just be a collection piece for me.

Cool....Sorry I missed the show, but I wont miss the next one!!! Thanks for the info on it! Enjoy the new knives!!!!!!!

thanks for the interest guys! yea there's another show there again September 24th and 25th.

Check back for my next comment on this thread, I'll be posting my own pics of the knives I bought, instead of the pics I grabbed off google in the earlier post.
