Some of the pain has been eased after selling JohnTheTexican my tan/snakeskin SJTAC. :D

This came in the mail today. Feels like a great all-around short blade. After some sharpening, it may replace my HRLM in my daypack.

Can't wait for my Spec-Ops Combat Master sheath to get here. Unlike John, I'm actually going to use (*gasp*) my tan/snakeskin blade. :D :p

Congrats! Beautiful pic! Thnx for sharing:D

Great look! I'm waiting for a SS/OD, which I hope will look near as good, at least.

What is your initial comparison with the HRLM. I have one two, which I've carried dayhiking. Any quick pros or cons in comparison? (Other than the obvious superiority of INFI:D , of course).

One thing that I like about the BATAC is the larger finger choil. I'm not sure why the choil was made so small on the HRLM, but my finger is too big for that one. I've actually thought about asking Bill Siegle to modify it for me.

The BATAC is just a bigger blade overall, however, so there's a little bit of apples-oranges in this comparison. Still, you can't go wrong with either one as a utility blade.

I took a side-by-side for you...

Guyon,
Great pics! that side-by-side really shows. Thanks for sharing.
Where does BATAC balance? ..would you happen to know weight?

i really like my HRLM's handle too! (except for small choil)
Can't wait to get my BATAC!

Mine balances (just using a finger as a quick gauge) just off to one side of the first rivet.

The fish scale puts it at 12 ounces, so three-quarters of a pound on the weight.

I think I actually like the BATAC a little better than the SJTAC. Not to take anything away from the SJTAC... I love my LE, but it really is a "jack of all trades." Not really a chopper. Not really a dedicated utility blade. The slightly smaller size of the BATAC gives it a little more of a utility-knife feel.

Thank you, that really helps. I think I'm going to really like the BATAC. The HRLM is the smallest FB I've ever tried carrying for hiking/utility use. I think I'll appreciate that extra length.

anyone handle magnum handles on this knife? I ordered one with magnum handles.
i ordered one w/ magnum scales too ..and that's why i don't have it yet :)
i hear only the standard scales are shipping right now, which is why i'm here drooling over Guyon's BATAC..

> Guyon,
oh thanks for weighing & balancing btw!
Great pics! ..getting me psyched about receiving mine! can't wait!

Great pix...especially the comparison shot!!!

I have got to wait until they get to the Company Store or pay Ohio sales tax:(

Wow. Never thought about the A-hia residents and their tax. Guess that's a real bummer when you want to order an AK or an FBM.

Awesome color combo, and great pics!

No love here yet, but maybe in the mail today...
