Mean looking guns?

Hi. I'm soon getting a Mossberg Pump Pistol-grip 12ga. for home defense. I'm also considering a shell carrying side-saddle for it, and possibly a collapsible stock. If I do add these accessories onto my gun, it will NOT be the "nicest" looking of all guns. It will look like something the military and/or SWAT team would use.

Is it possible that the appearance of my weapon, although PERFECTLY legal, would work against me in court, EVEN in a CLEAR-CUT case of Self Defense? By clear-cut, I mean, it was obvious without a doubt my life was in danger and I was perfectly justified in using deadly force. Like say, if some 6'7" 350lb. guy busts down my door with an Uzi in hand.

GENERALLY...If you don't change the function or safety features of your "weapon" you should be "ok", as long it is also of a type that your local police depts. might carry. But this is only a GENERAL guideline.

Keep it the legal length, and I doubt it would be viewed any differently than another gun. I've got the Mossberg Mariner, and the pistol grip comes with it. I have put it on for fun, but like the normal stock better. If ya really want a "PC" cutesy gun, get a Lady Smith! How could you get into trouble using one of those?;)

Thanks guys. Of course, I would not modify a gun illegaly. (Not that I know how to, anyway!)

Just that pistol-grip shotguns are sorta "hollywood" guns, and I can just imagine the prosecutor holding mine up for the jury to see.

The sidesaddle and folding stock, in my opinion, do NOT make it look more "friendly" and less harmful. I think they make it look MUCH more business-like.

Oh well...

Just curious.
Thanks!

A lot of southern LEO's in the 50's and 60's used to have their shotguns chrome plated. When they got out of their squad-rods with a shiny scattergun it was easily seen!

I like customized 1911's for their look as well as for the added reliability. However, the most dangerous firearm I have now is a Ruger Ultra-Light 77 in .243 Win calibre. Light, portable, you will never see me--until it is too late.

Pistol grip and folding stock shotguns are very uncomfortable to shoot. You might want to reconsider.
