I went out squirrel hunting this morning with no luck but slipped into the woods this evening and bagged 3 of the little fellars. Felt it was the Mean Street's turn (it's been resting a little but it got a little excited tonight when I slipped it on the belt and grabbed the 20 guage--no doubt it has some hunting blood in it

).

The MS made short work of cleaning squirrels. I quickly chopped off the paws. It sliced through the heads so easily I was wondering if they really were attached. And no problem with the initial slice through the tail, the small cuts along the legs (a good drop point is hard to beat), and openin up the abdominal cavity. In short, the MS is an awesome hunting knife for small game! It will do what I want it to do in the field with ease. I've not tried it on big game (ever since I screwed up my shoulder, bowhunting has been strictly a hallucination for me), but based on what I've seen with small game, field dressing a deer would be simple as pie.

I've cleaned squirrel with this knife before but I forgot just how much fun it was. Normally I use a pair of side cuts to take the paws off but when you have a minichopper like the MS, no need. This just makes field dressing quicker and easier and it's one less tool I have to carry into the woods. Just a note: I have reprofiled the edge somewhat on the MS for better slicing. It's a big boy, it can take it.

Now I'm REALLY looking forward to the Lean Mean Street! It will no doubt be awesome and probably end up being my number one field knife. But first it has to show me it can do what its older sibling can do in the woods.

COOL! Yeah, I can't wait to get the lean mean street too. I feel very comfortable taking a Busse into the woods. Thanks for sharing. Good hunting!
