I'm a little confused to this day over all the Mean Street knives from past to present. How about educating me (pics a bonus) on the various changes in name and design. Interested in design changes mid run also especially on old school ones.

That could be an expensive education

These are old MS knives (and two LMS 1&6 from left to right) the smooth bolts being the oldest. I'm not sure if any were slotted screw or not. Most smooth were A2
but there are some INFIs around. The next were quilted. And of the quilted some were thin like .17 I think, I'm not sure on that but they were a lot thinner and called the LMS
(lean mean street). The numbers were very low on these and there are two in this photo. They are black blades and black slabs
but not with the butt end polished (1&6). Tan handles are Desert Warfare MS.

These are Meaner Streets at about .23 to .24 flat grind

the Leaner Meaner here is a saber at .15

Later in 2007 maybe there were thicker saber grinds that were coated .
Can't find a pic right now

found one..

those are means/leans.

the "second generation" streets are the meaner/leaner.

there have been many variations of each.

Thanks to both of you for explaining.
Now I need to narrow it down to the offerings (Thickness and coatings) of the (old school) MS and LMS.
Are all INFI if tube fasteners are present on the MS and LMS? I understand smooth bolts are A2.

smooth or crinkle?
mean or meaner?
lean or leaner?
satin or dc?
quilted or smooth?
scale color?
coating color?
model t?
full height or saber?
micarta, g10, or natural?
g rex?
cs or production?

best of luck dude!!

What I'm specifically interested in is the first photo Tony posted, # 1 ,6 and 7. Black coated (crinkle and smooth, quilted scales), thicknesses offered and name designations of those three in their respective forms.

1&6 are LMS the other is a MS.

LMS were about .17 and the others had a wide range from .21 to very fat DWMS at like .27.

The person that knows these best -by far- is HAMMY. If he says anything different than what I said ... well he is right

This helps alot! Thanks Tony

Now are all three of these INFI or were there A2 mixed in?

It took me about a year and a half to learn all of the acronyms for Busse knives. What did I learn today? Tony G has a lot of knives...

Check the Busse Museum: "homepage.mac.com/zombiekiller/badmojo/index.html" site. Go to Past Line and click Mean Street for a pretty good tutorial. Pete

Thanks,

One LMS went to Drew because I couldn't stand to see him cry... but then I added two protos that are not in that photo:D

But Hammy has ALL the others in the world :grumpy:

Any spine shots of those Tony?
Also, why did some have larger talon and choil holes than others?

Maybe tomorrow. I'm making dinner for my GF and can't hunt them down right now.

I'll add them late tomorrow. Send me an email if I forget.

I would only be guessing about the choil and talon holes.
