Meaner Duty or Meaner Warden?

I just got my EDC meaners a few days ago and am planning on doing some mods to it.

I am in the process of doing a full flat grind and putting a hand rubbed satin finish on it. I am thinking about modifying it to either a AD or GW handle but can't decide. I am leaning towards a AD size handle because the Meaner blade might be slightly too long for a GW sized handle.

What do you guys think?

I'd start with the AD, and see how you like that option. It's easier to take it off than put it back.

Just don't send it to Grinducci. You'll wind up with a Skeleton Key. :D

Are you just wanting an AD instead of a meaner? If so, that would be an easy trade ;) :D

Or are you really wanting a Meaner blade on a smaller handle? If so, definitely start with the AD handle, then move on. You may get someone to photochop it for you, just to see what it looks like at least

Thanks for the trade offer :) I already have both.

What I really want is a satin full flat ground MS with a smaller handle ;) Just can't really decide on how small. I may just start off at a AD sized handle and go down from there.

Actually, some photochopped comparison shots of a Meaner Duty vs Meaner Warden would be very helpful.

Hereis a cool mod on the AD handles...

Steelnut,

How comfy is that mod handle vs the standard. I can probably give it a shot but will have to grind the handle slabs along with removing metal from the handle. Doing the standard AD handle would only require removing metal from the butt end on the MS as the handle slabs are interchangeable between the AD and MS.

I am already done flat grinding the MS and am in the process of doing a hand rubbed finish. Will post some pics as soon as I am done with everything.

The handle is very comfortable.
There is so much different it is hard to compare.
It is shaved down on top and bottom, but the scales are fatter:D

We will need pics of your mods:thumbup:

hehe... Most definately. I am already done with the flat grind and satin finish up to 320grit. I like it at 320 and will stop there. The higher grits are too shiny for my taste.

Now I just need to grind the butt down and reattach the handle slabs to finish up. Will try to do that later on today after work.

Steelnut,

Man those handle slabs are sure darn thick. It looks like the Blk G10 is milled out perfectly to fit the Tan Micarta. I don't have a milling machine to do exactly that just yet. However, I have an idea that can still get very similar results ;) I will try doing that sort of handle configuration on my next mod of a bigger knife. I am just not too crazy about fat huge handles on my smaller EDC knives. They may be super comfy but they also make the smaller knives too bulky and heavy. Of course this is only one little piglet's personal opinion about EDC knives. Big 200-300+ lbs Hogs need not apply!!!! :p
